Origin of the name "Crime Lake"
edit- The article said "The name 'Crime' is a local word for "meadow" rather than anything untoward.", but discussion in https://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/cgi-bin/webadmin?A2=EPNL;306dd40e.1701 said that there is no such word and theorizes that the origin may be "cream" (ref. good grazing for dairy cows), or from the surname Crimes or Chrimes, or from a "crumb" or small piece of land.
