Lemma
editI followed the title exactly. The "i" ist without accute, the apostrophe used is " ′ " and not " ' ". It is an "art work". Please shift back! Bikkit ! (talk) 08:01, 14 December 2015 (UTC)
- ! Bikkit ! It's not "art work", it is a book. Per WP:TSC and MOS:PUNCT, only straight apostrophes are used. In this case, it is a choice, not part of the language, on what apostrophes are used in books, newspapers and websites. On Wikipedia, we use '. Bgwhite (talk) 08:11, 14 December 2015 (UTC)
- The whole book is a piece of art. This includes the title, the backside (no period ant the end) and the photopgtaphs.
- The book title uses the spelling "Dali". So how come you do not change it to the correct name "Dalí"? The same with the accent. Another example: «O» is not changed to "O", although " « " is usually not used in WP-lemmata.
- I will ask for a third opinion. ! Bikkit ! (talk) 19:00, 14 December 2015 (UTC)
- Again, it is a book, not art work. A ton of book covers use ′, but we still use ' on Wikipedia. I don't see where «O» is used. Did you not read the links I gave? It clearly states '. The links only talk about '. Bgwhite (talk) 19:21, 14 December 2015 (UTC)
- In the meantime I learnt that - no matter what - ’ is changed into ' and in other WPs ' is changed into ’.
- In either way it is claimed that this is the original title. So at the end it does not seem to matter.
- Still, I will stop my activities writing articles about art works in en:WP. Case closed! Bikkit ! (talk) 09:03, 15 December 2015 (UTC)
- ! Bikkit ! Every Wikipedia has their own rules. German Wikipedia and English Wikipedia have different rules. You cannot do the same thing there as you do here and visa versa. Not all English keyboards have ’ or ′. Most English keyboard do not have ’, thus one reason why ' is mandated. So, you don't get your way or don't like the rules, thus you stop editing? Stupid.
