For as long as it is only "local sources say", it is not onfirmed. It is very probably true, but we don't put anything until it is known fact. Kevin McE (talk) 10:54, 15 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
Still only says "has been named as": that is media speak for "s rumoured to be". If family/agent/police name him, that is different. Kevin McE (talk) 11:14, 15 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
These are still all "according to reports". A newspaper can say anything "is reported": if it is later shown to be untrue, they simply need to say "it is true that it was reported, and that is all we said". They believe it to be true (as do I), but they don't know it to be true (and none of us do either). Kevin McE (talk) 11:55, 15 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
Absolutely; my comment was an FYI not a criticism :) The handling of the page so far has been exactly as it should be. Keri (talk) 12:02, 15 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

Police responded to a call as Atkinson threatened to kill his father. Atkinson's older brother, Kenroy said "My brother had lost it. He was in a manic state and depressed – out of his mind and ranting. He had a tube in his shoulder for the dialysis and he had ripped it out and was covered in blood, he got Dad [Ernest Atkinson, 85]. . . "
Correction: Police responded to a call as Atkinson threatened to kill his father, 85 year-old Ernest Atkinson. Atkinson's older brother, Kenroy said "My brother had lost it. He was in a manic state and depressed – out of his mind and ranting. He had a tube in his shoulder for the dialysis and he had ripped it out and was covered in blood, he got Dad . . . "
Would this be a better wording of the article?67.8.227.76 (talk) 17:56, 16 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
I very unfortunate juxtaposition of quotes: his brother says he tried to throttle his father, and Kiwomya says he would do anything for his loved ones (including kill them?). I'll remove Kiwomya's quote: it adds nothing to understanding what happened, and Atkinson's adequately summarises typically responses of colleagues. Kevin McE (talk) 15:43, 23 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
Should we consider getting a more professional-looking icon for this page? NeutralWikipedia 17:37, 18 August 2016 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by NeutralWikipedia (talk • contribs)

Atkinson was an unarmed man who was tasered by the police, which caused his death. It must be mentioned in the article that he was unarmed when tasered as tasering is normally done when someone is armed or the police have reason to believe that they are armed when tasering people. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.108.18.129 (talk) 22:52, 22 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
He was threatening harm to an elderly man, who he had by the throat. If the IPCC report that police action was unreasonable, that will merit adding, but your personal suspicion would not be grounds for inclusion. Kevin McE (talk) 12:57, 23 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
