The article claims that the Mavs have won 50 Magic Tree House Books? I'm fairly knowledgeble about basketball and I've never heard of an NBA team winning a Magic Tree House Book. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.119.41.16 (talk) 18:43, 6 April 2012 (UTC)

I wrote the team's history all the way up until 1994, but I'm gonna go to bed now, and I'll be out of town for a few days. I'll be more than happy to finish the job upon my return, unless someone else wants to take over, of course. ekedolphin 07:11, Jan 3, 2005 (UTC)

i thought that podkolzine was sent to the d-league, wasn't he?
- Didn't they release Podkolzine? Basketball110 03:21, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
What's in the team logo?
- I thought Mavericks means young calves (cows/bulls), but that logo looks like a horse to me, anyone can explain the lineage? Thanks. Kenimaru 22:41, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
The creature that you see in the logo is a horse with the letter "M" stamped on its forehead. I do not think that the team name is derived from the definition that you mention; rather it (in my belief) refers to this one: An unorthodox or independent-minded person; a person who refuses to conform to the views of a particular group or party; an individualist. (credit OED) Also, the team logo's previous incarnation was a mere cowboy hat perched upon the letter "M"(you could easily find an image through a google search) so the cow/bull imagery that you suggest was never present.--Schadenfreude52 22:01, 25 May 2006 (UTC)
- Now you mentioned it, I do recall that old logo, thanks. Kenimaru 06:53, 3 June 2006 (UTC)
- I like the cowboy hat. They need to modernize it and bring it back. WizardDuck 22:14, 27 January 2007 (UTC)
- Is it bizarre to anyone else that the horse seems to look a lot like Mark Cuban? At least the hair? He is one self absorbed dude, even if he is a great owner.--CSTV 15:43, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
Hey, isn't Devin Harris still a part of the Mavericks current roster? And Pavel Nedved (if that's what his last name is?) 20:50, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
Pavel Nedved plays soccer, or as they rest of the world says it, football. And yes, Harris is in the roster. Basketball110 (talk) 00:27, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
History
I have taken the time to merge the information from History of the Dallas Mavericks to Dallas Mavericks. I felt that there was no need to have two pages when one would do perfectly fine. Please take time to look over the changes and possible complications that may occur. Thanks for your time. --Schadenfreude52 22:03, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
It would be nice, if we could have people to begin writing out the history for this season. I'll be sure to add in the coming days. --Schadenfreude52 05:45, 2 June 2006 (UTC)

NBA Finals 2006
I just added this section to the entry. I hope to have more information added here within the coming days. --Schadenfreude52 03:35, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
I added a little more info. Let's look to get a NBA Finals schedule in there. Cheesehead Fan 04:06, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
Ok, I got the schedule, and now we need to get more info about the Mavs playoff run in 06. Cheesehead Fan 04:09, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
A schedule is inappropriate for an encyclopedia and I will be deleting it tomorrow. It should not be there, it should a telling of the facts and story of their run through the 2006 playoffs, not the current events schedule. --Mystalic 06:38, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
Leave the schedule! Someone actually use it, its not bothering you!
It's not part of a proper encyclopedia. --Mystalic 23:55, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
If you could, let's discuss it a little more Cheesehead Fan 03:14, 7 June 2006 (UTC)
Perhaps the schedule can be replaced with game recaps? GO MAVS!!! hehehehe --Howard the Duck 15:17, 7 June 2006 (UTC)
For now, I vote that we keep the schedule; it could be helpful later on in our documentation of the Mavs' entire playoff run. However, once the finals are over, I agree that there is no point to having the schedule and that its presence will weaken the page's "credibility" as an encyclopedia entry. --Schadenfreude52 20:00, 7 June 2006 (UTC)
I agree, that was the purpose of me putting it(ima loser) on. Cheesehead Fan 01:59, 8 June 2006 (UTC)
Someone keeps changing the statement "Mavericks officials and fans have cited poor officiating and phantom calls as secondary contributors to their loss to the Heat, especially concerning Game 5" to "NBA officials and fans have cited poor officiating and phantom calls as secondary contributors to their loss to the Heat, especially concerning Game 5". This is a patently false statement; NBA officials have made no such pronouncement. Either provide a corroborating cite or quit screwing around. 68.94.233.24 15:24, 25 August 2006 (UTC)
I agree with Mystalic, it shouldn't be in a "proper" encyclopedia, but this is no proper encyclopedia, so if we could get a schedule, it would be great! Basketball110 (talk) 00:22, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
I don't understand. Why is there no mention of their trip to the NBA Finals, save an oblique reference in the intro? Why does their history basically stop in the 90s? 76.167.253.199 (talk) 01:16, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
Removal of the Finals Schedule/Results
Since the finals are over, I propose that the schedule be removed as was the consensus above. The information could possibly be worked into the section if we think it is relevant. Thisischris 17:22, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
since there was no other opinions, I went ahead and removed the schedule. Thisischris 12:40, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
1st victory at Boston
Is it true that the Mavs' first victory in Boston occurred in the '96 season? If so, please have that mentioned because I remember it being such a jinx for them. Heck, even the Nuggets were able to win in Boston in the '88 season that saw them and the Mavs battling in the postseason. The Nuggets franchise can't feel so bad about that season. :-) -Amit
The Mavs in 06-07 07-08.
"Not to be forgotten"
Eduardo Najera was a great entergetic force for a couple of years, yet, as a Mavericks fan, I wouldn't consider him a not-to-be-forgotten. User:Mmmmhhhhmmm 10:51, 4 February 2006
- I would've left Eddie in. Everyone loves Eddie. Three years later, he still gets an ovation at the AAC whenever Denver comes through. Someone took him off the list, and I'm not gonna mess with it, but if Najera doesn't belong, what
iswas Evan Eschmeyer doing on there? -- Spook Fruit 14:15, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
Mark Cuban should not be placed under "Not to be Forgotten." He is still the owner. I'm going to take him off of that list. --Schadenfreude52 20:06, 7 June 2006 (UTC)
I took Evan Eshemeyer off of the list. He never did anything. I also changed Nick Van Exel and Dennis Rodman as all-stars. They were never all-stars for Dallas.
I don't think Najera should be in the not-to-be-forgetten. He just didn't put up enough numbers. Also, I don't think Austin Croshere should be on there.Basketball110 (talk) 00:24, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

2007 Playoffs
"(...) becoming the first team to win 63+ games and get eliminated in the first round (...)"
Outright wrong, the Seattle SuperSonics were the first (went 63-14 in 1993-94 and lost to the Nuggets in 5 games in round 1). Please fix.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 130.76.32.16 (talk • contribs).
- Thank you for the find. It has been removed. (I wish people would do more research before adding what they believe is true.) —LOL 21:04, 4 May 2007 (UTC)
Green Headers?
I wouldn't use green for the table headers for the Mavs. There main uniform, and their main logo, is mainly blue, silver, and white. Green only appears on their alternate uniforms. Sould that be changed as well. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Dknights411 (talk • contribs) 18:02, 5 May 2007 (UTC).
Bouncing Back?
Is it bouncing back when you tank in the first round? Is the phrase "Bouncing Back" one that describes the 2006-2007 season? I don't think there's too many people who would brag about this season. Mikevegas40 03:11, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
- Good point. But I can't think of a way to write a title without being neutral. Anyone here have any ideas. Dknights411 06:26, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
- How about "Disappointing finish"? It's quite easy to snoop around for cites about that. --Howard the Duck 11:25, 8 May 2007 (UTC)

FAC
This article has a malformed fac template that was never submitted to WP:FAC. Also, multiple noms from one user are discouraged. Since this article is very far from featured status, may I suggest WP:GAN or WP:PR first? SandyGeorgia (Talk) 02:19, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
All stars?
What does that section mean? The # of times the player was an all-star w/ the MAVS, or in total? Basketball110 23:25, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

Coaches?
A list of coaches needs to be made... any assistance provided will be appreciated.ajoy (talk) 14:13, 29 July 2008 (UTC)
I updated the coaches for you. Should all be right. 70.249.155.65 (talk) 02:19, 30 July 2008 (UTC)Brandon
hey brandon, thanks for the updates.. but this is more for stats on the coaches so the seasons where there is more than 1 coach should be split and the awards should be for those given to the coach like COY. So im just looking for the data .. please put it in if you have it... thanks once again.... peaceajoy (talk) 19:54, 30 July 2008 (UTC)
Fixed it. Split it up, COY honors, plus coaching all star game.

thanks man.. you're the best! from where did you get the info?plus ill try and make sure this info is there on other NBA (team) articles and clean up the table alignment too.thanks......ajoy (talk) 06:46, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
No prob. Got info from Dallasmavericks.com, clicked on contact us and then history. Also from nba.com and history. I had to do some math for the records where the coaches split seasons. I also did the all star appearances awhile back. You can double check that for me. Only did it for the guys that actually made AS a mavericks. 70.249.155.65 (talk) 03:06, 1 August 2008 (UTC)Brandon
Orphaned references in Dallas Mavericks
I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Dallas Mavericks's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

No Mavericks draft history?
This article is sorely lacking a Mavericks draft history. The one displayed by Basketball-Reference.Com here (http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/DAL/draft.html) would be a good start, though it lacks references to draft choices traded away.BLZebubba (talk) 09:45, 10 July 2015 (UTC)
