  • the article lacks biographical information
  • The article lacks references to reputable third-party sources (eg magazines, newspapers) where this information may be confirmed. Person's website cannot be a reliable source of judgements and information
  • The overall tone is too promotional.

Still, welcome to wikipedia. IMO this person deserves an article. A word of warning: please don't add links to yuor websites into various articles: they will be usually considered as spam. Links to this aricle are quite enough. mikka (t) 22:03, 3 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Clean up

edit

In response to the issues cited, I've cleaned this article up. It no longer sounds so promotional and it now has references, though I'm not sure the YouTube ones are cited properly. It is in much better shape now. I could not delete the issues listed at the top of the page, so however that occurs, it would be appreciated. Thank you! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.93.38.197 (talk) 04:55, 28 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

trying to update

edit

Hey there- I'm definitely new to this. Sorry for my errors. I tried to update the damali ayo page and the edits don't seem to be taking. I see now in the edit log that they were removed, though I'm not sure why, since I was attempting to follow your requests. Please let me know if there is some trick I'm missing out on. I included all the things you asked for. Thanks for your help.

Oh, also, per your note about insertions of web sites being seen as spam- I believe that rent-a-negro.com is an important site and should be referenced in the appropriate articles (internet art, conceptual art, satire, parody, etc.) The site got wide attention, and is still being talked about in international media, I see also that these insertions have been entirely deleted. Why were they not converted to references to the wikipedia page on damali ayo as you suggested? She is an important artist and should be included in these categories. (december 5, 2005)

Ayo's controversial style and the social philosophy she espouses may be falling by the wayside, however, as race theory which emphasizes pan-societal improvement and responsibility, as opposed to solely white culpability for all racial problems, becomes more prevelent.

-as it's obviously a reader's opinion/comment on damali ayo. it's an interesting point, but it has no place here until someone can attribute it to a noted social commentator or art critic or at least someone worthy of their own wikipedia article. The rest of the article definitely needs some work too (sections, npov and a less promotional tone). KZF 14:41, 30 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

i'm removing this too

edit

She also can be commissioned to paint these colors in a person's home or on a wall (either full room or again in smaller sections). -looks like an advert, and it's not relevant. KZF 14:43, 30 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

edit

hm. bummer. i added these links because i noticed on one of my other favorite artist's pages he had all of the stories he had done on This American Life. studio 360 is just like that show so i thought it would be a good link to include. hm....

so.....can you reconsider?

i get that a long list of links is lame. these are only 5 links. i will just put the facts in with out the links for now.

Chop Chop

edit

I made several changes to this article. Frankly, it read like the promotional bio on her website. I was surprised that I didn't see her name in the edit history. Anyway, I removed redundant and overly-promotional material and tried to neutralize the tone of the article as much as I could without eradicating genuinely-informative content. I also corrected instances of inconsistent double-spacing and bad capitalization. If a trademarked name is meant to be lowercased, that's fine, but the first letter of a sentence should be capitalized regardless. --Slander 21:06, 8 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Capitalization discussion at the manual of style

edit

For all interested parties, there is a discussion going on right now at the Manual of Style about whether or not to capitalize people's names against their wishes (like damali ayo, for example). -- Irn (talk) 16:31, 29 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Fixed issues

edit

Hey wikipeeps. I fixed the issues on this page. Hopefully now the "issues" box at the top of it will be removed. Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.90.96.143 (talk) 22:16, 22 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
