Luca Spinelli
editThere's a 2004 character with the same last name, "Luca Spinelli." According to IMDB, he was played by Michael DeArmey in four episodes in 2004:
There's no verification that Luca Spinelli and Damian Spinelli are related, so it may just be coincidence. However, aside from Miriam Spinelli, it's the only other potential relative that we have. Granted, it's a small part, but my own feeling is that the information should be included in the Wikipedia article, even if it's just as "relationship unknown." What do other editors think? Include or no? --Elonka 16:43, 8 May 2007 (UTC)
- I don't think it should be included.--Charleenmerced Talk 21:03, 8 May 2007 (UTC)
- This is a non-existant character. I went through every single episode in 2004 (not just the ones the IMDb says he was in). No character named Luca Spinelli existed, and there was no one character that appeared in all four of those episodes. The IMDb is rife with fraudulent info when it comes to the soaps. D'Amico 05:21, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
- Alright, I'll go along with consensus. But, I'm curious: When you say you went through these episodes, what do you mean exactly? Do you have access to the original recordings? I'm confused how you could have gone through "every single episode in 2004" in a day? --Elonka 06:02, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
- I store incredibly useless junk. I have a record of all speaking parts going back to ... 1998, I believe. Any character names are included, and it's easy to do a rapid search through the files. I went through the four episodes listed piece by piece, and there is no Luca Spinelli, and no one character that shows up in all four. The IMDb is rapidly becoming completely useless because there is no verification or fact checking anymore. It's too bad -- at one time, it was a great resource. TV.com is doing far better these days, but they don't have a complete list of the guest stars yet. D'Amico 06:58, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

Good Article status
editI'd like to see about getting this article promoted to Good article status. As such, we should go to a peer review, but first, can anyone else think of things which should be improved? --Elonka 20:13, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
- more up to date info?--Charleenmerced Talk 23:17, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
- I think this article is as up-to-date as possible. Can anyone else think of anything else that might be needed, before it can be declared a Good Article? --Elonka 19:30, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
Nicknames
editI can appreciate that the character's penchant for nicknames is entertaining, and that it's appropriate to include a few of the more notable nicknames here in the Wikipedia article. However, I'm uncomfortable with the idea of including every single one. The character is probably (hopefully!) going to be around for a long time, and trying to maintain a database of every nickname he uses, is really going to be beyond the scope of what Wikipedia is for. I recommend that this information be maintained at some other website, and then we can link to that website from the Wikipedia article. --Elonka 21:28, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
- Another possibility is that we split it off to another article, like List of Damian Spinelli nicknames? Then we can add a "see also" from this article, with just a few of the more notable names. --Elonka 08:38, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
- Aha! I think I've found the perfect solution. Let's create a "Damian Spinelli" page at Wikiquotes. We can move the nicknames there, and also include other "classic" Spinelli quotes, like when he was asking Stone Cold to tell him "the secret to his mojo," and the "are they compatible" speech from Lucky and Elizabeth's wedding. "Maybe she's dial-up and he's high-speed"... :) --Elonka 20:27, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
About Wikiquotes
editI have added a page for Damian Spinelli so you have to create an account and add as many nicknames you want. The link is http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Damian_Spinelli so have fun. June 1, 2007. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Prisonbreak 2005 (talk • contribs) 08:05, June 2, 2007

Damian v. Damien
editI've double-checked sources, and everything I've seen, from the soaps magazines to IMDB, uses the spelling of "Damian". If there's an "official list" that uses the spelling of Damien, my guess is it's a typo on that list. Wikipedia article titles go by "most common name" per WP:UCN, so even if his name were spelled "Damien" in a script somewhere, we would follow common usage and stick with Damian, until/unless other sources started switching their spelling. If the magazines start using Damien, we can switch too. Wikipedia follows the lead of outside sources. --Elonka 20:10, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
- The official cast list for GH lists it as Damien, as does the show's website, the actor's official page, all accepted forms of soap media on the web, etc. The assumption was made that it was spelled Damian based on it only being heard, but never seen. As soon as GH released the official cast list, many sites started updating the information. It's like baby Lila. Many sites were claiming her as Lila Rae Quartermaine, when the show had never actually specified. The magazines aren't necessarily a great source either (the IMDb isn't even remotely reliable unfortunately), because they're essentially a soap tabloid and their cast lists are often wrong. Of course, the spelling of his first name was not clarified by ABC until he was placed on contract. D'Amico 15:44, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
- Can you please provide links to the spelling of "Damien"? So far I haven't seen anything. --Elonka 23:20, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

- The IMDb also includes the spelling of Damien Spinelli -- it alternates. For the record, though, the IMDb also refers to Michael as Michael Alan Quartermaine, which isn't his name. It's fan-based, and the IMDb does not have the necessary resources to double-check submissions.
- All sites originally used Damian because his name was heard, but never seen. Until Anderson was placed on contract, ABC never put his first name in the credits. His first name was included in the credits once he was upgraded to contract, and it was Damien with the E. D'Amico 04:04, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
- Hmm, thanks for the links! What are the print magazines doing? If they've converted too, I'd support moving the article. But if they're still using "Damian", we might want to wait a bit longer, per WP:UCN. --Elonka 05:57, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
- Most actually just use Spinelli (even in ABC SID's article about his getting a contract they only use Spinelli). SOD used Damien when announcing his contract upgrade (June 5, 2007, issue). ABC has only ever used Damien. Since the show and the actor use the name, I would figure it's safe to assume it's Damien. It was never actually shown as Damian on-air -- people just assumed it was. D'Amico 06:06, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
- Okay, let's check consensus, and see what other editors think. --Elonka 15:49, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

Hmmm, I thought this matter was settled as "Damien", but on yesterday's episode of GH, Spinelli held up a business card where the spelling was clearly listed as "Damian". So, I'm re-adding the alternate spelling to the article. I wonder if they're planning on changing the credits? --Elonka 17:08, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
Requested move
edit- The following discussion is an archived discussion of the proposal. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.
Suggestion to move Damian Spinelli to Damien Spinelli. The character's name is spelled as "Damian" in some press sources, but as "Damien" in the actual credits of the show and other sources. Should the Wikipedia page be moved? Please indicate Support or Oppose below, along with a sentence or two indicating your opinion. Thanks. --Elonka 15:49, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
- Support. I've never been clear on how these voting rules work, but my vote would be move. The show spells his name Damien Spinelli, so it shouldn't matter how unofficial sources have him. His name was never actually seen in any official source until he was on contract, so it was a natural assumption by most unofficial sources that it was spelt with an A rather than an E. D'Amico 15:59, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
- Wait. The sources that I'm checking seem to be split between "Damian" and "Damien." Yes his name is in the credits as Damien, but magazines are still listing him as Damian. Per Use common names, I think that the name that a typical reader would probably search on, would be Damian, so we should stick with that until the public perception clearly switches to Damien. Once all press is clearly using the Damien spelling, I'd support moving the Wikipedia article as well. --Elonka 17:50, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
- Support if that's the name in the credits lists, then it's the real name; the other form will be redirected to it. E.G. 20:14, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

I suppose that if usage in the media is split between "Damian" and "Damien", then that measn that we are on the cusp of the change, and that this is exactly the right time to move the page. This article has been renamed from Damian Spinelli to Damien Spinelli as the result of a move request. The redirect will still provide for those who spell it with an A. --Stemonitis 06:55, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
Damian's biological parents
editOn General Hospital, they didn't mention that Spinelli is the son of Sonny Corinthos and Kate Howard. Whoever that put this on the article should take it off until it's mention on air.Prison Break 08:06, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
- Agreed, and removed. If you see it pop up again, especially without any links to published sources, feel free to delete it on sight. --Elonka 01:10, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
They also didn't mention that Spinelli is Jason Morgan's son so who ever put that on his profile should take it off —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.88.56.120 (talk • contribs) 23:39, July 15, 2007
Northwest Afternoon (Seattle TV show) mentioned once in summer 2008 discussion of soaps that "soon" (?) Spinelli would find out who his parents are. Speculation is rife, as previous edits demonstrate. There are only so many charcters of the appropriate age. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.77.212.72 (talk) 17:09, 11 September 2008 (UTC) Another speculation is that he may be the illegitimate son of Claudia Zaccara and Trevor Lansing (who were caught "doing it" by her father). However, even in the fuzzy chronolgy of soap operas, he may be too old for that option. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.216.16.65 (talk) 02:43, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
The Nicknames?
editThe nicknames section in this article counts as trivia. It should be removed. Is anyone opposed???--Leslie Roak (talk) 19:12, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
STRONG support: Since debuting in late 2006, he has been called Spinelli. He has been called by his full name in LESS than 30 episodes. Characters on GH, TV/radio/print/digital media, and fans simply call him Spinelli.

Photos nominated for deletion
editFYI both photos in the body of the storyline plot have been nominated for deletion (not by me). Here is the discussion link if anyone would like to comment. Kelly Marie 0812 (talk) 17:19, 16 September 2012 (UTC)
Removing copyright tag
editAs I've cleaned up/condensed/rewritten the storylines, if there was previously a copyright issue it should be okay now. I think the plot still needs some work but it should at least be okay in terms of tone and no copyright problems. Kelly Marie 0812 (talk) 18:04, 16 September 2012 (UTC)
