Talk:Damien (South Park)/Archive 1
Dog Latin in that episode
editThere is not only the phrase "rectus dominus" but also something said by Satan. Does anyone know what he says and what it means? 84.174.29.37 20:14, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
DVD Commentary
editIn the trivia, someone claims that Matt and Trey intended to kill Pip in the episode's commentary, etc.
I've looked all over my season one set, but I can't find any mention of there being commentary for any of the episodes. I've also searched through the audio options in my DVD player; there simply wasn't any recorded for this season's DVD release. Also, the live action introduction to the episode does not contain any reference to Pip, whatsoever. Could someone determine from where this notion came? Either it was fabricated, or Matt and Trey's statements are heard somewhere else. 71.127.95.182 06:18, 3 August 2007 (UTC)

Uncited material
editCite or relevance;
- Damien is the name of the boy in the Omen, being the child of Satan in that movie. There's also a picture of a giraffe and a baboon on the classroom wall, which refers to the scenes in "The Omen" where Damien causes animals (two of which are giraffes and baboons) to go crazy.
- During lunch, the boys inform Damien that his mom is a "real dog." This is also a reference to the Omen, in which Damien's real mother is a jackal.
- Damien himself resembles the character Hecubus, Spawn of Satan from the sketch show The Kids in the Hall.
- Cartman requests Mega Man toys, which, despite the name, have little resemblance to Capcom's famous blue robot video game character. The toys appear to resemble Power Rangers instead.
- Stan's line "Don't try to be a great man, just be a man" was originally spoken by William Riker to Zefram Cochrane in the movie Star Trek: First Contact. This also alludes to the fact that Stan has a rather vast knowledge of Star Trek, later expanded upon in Spontaneous Combustion. (Both times Stan speaks Star Trek lines, he says that both lines were from the bible.)
- Satan's anti-climactic threat "I'm going to smash your face into little bits" is a reference to the character Tim the Enchanter from Monty Python and the Holy Grail, who uses almost exactly the same description of what the Rabbit of Caerbannog does to its victims.
- Continuously throughout the episode, whenever we see the 3rd grade classroom the numbers 666 appear in red with the rest of the numbers on the wall. The black board reads some calculations and mathematical formulas, amongst them 2x + 3y + 1 = 666
- Nancy Sinatra is mentioned during the lesson on great Baroque singers.
- Satan's boxing manager resembles Don King.
- This is the 2nd Episode to be rated 12 by the BBFC
- When the Towns people applaude Satan in the match, Jesus turns around and glares at them, causing their applause to subside. This looked similar to The Spirit of Christmas short when the Boys root for Santa and Jesus does the same thing.
- After Satan throws the fight, Stan and Kyle cheer, "Our Savior", similar to the aforementioned Spirit of Christmas.
- Jimbo shouts, "It's coming right for us!" as he shoots the duck-billed platypus Kenny.
