Page reset and page protection dropped
editI've archived this talk page and reset the page using some suggested text from an editor. The page itself is now open to rebuilding by users interested as long as it follows the usual policies and guidelines, most especially Verifiability and Neutral Point of View. The former content should not just be reinserted. I apologize for the long standing protection on this page and while the office protection remains (and has been downgraded to semi protection for now as it rebuilds) that is not meant to be or anticipated as a long term action. I would personally like to keep it under a month and am open to shorter if the article progresses. Jalexander--WMF 02:59, 14 July 2013 (UTC)
- I'm really really glad that the office protection is over, but did we really just replace it with an article with 0 citations? :/ Legoktm (talk) 07:10, 14 July 2013 (UTC)
- Yeah, not the best, I fought over that a bit but was trying to stub it in such a way as to do as little 'content' work myself as possible. So used a 'I know this is true and will get a reference soon' approach and used the text suggested by an editor on Philippe's talk page. I really appreciate you getting it, thank you. - Not done: please be more specific about what needs to be changed. Provide verification for what? Also, I'm not sure that constitutes a reliable source. Technical 13 (talk) 17:37, 11 January 2014 (UTC)
Explanation?
editThis article has now been under WP:OFFICE action for over two years. Is there some explanation for this anywhere? I can't find anything in the archives, WP:ANI etc except speculation. Surely the office must have given some explanation for their actions? If so, it should be mentioned at the top of this talk page. If not, then the community deserves to be informed. Modest Genius talk 18:41, 27 January 2014 (UTC)
- While this could easily be speculation, Philippe had implied to me a while ago that Damon Dash threatened to sue over what he viewed as a badly written article that violated BLP. Because the Foundation doesn't have a dedicated legal fund; they had to concede to Dash or fight a lawsuit that could've easily bankrupted them. I think that the Foundation wants to wait a long time before they stop monitoring the article so the current version is improved enough to gain consensus. --Thebirdlover (talk) 22:08, 23 February 2014 (UTC)
- Unfortunately we can not always say exactly why we protected a page, and this is one of those times. We do it very rarely and think very hard about it and have reevaluated this one a couple times since then. Unfortunately when we are unable to talk about the reasons conjecture on them can be dangerous because it runs a severe legal risk for the foundation and the projects and I would ask that we not do so here. I think we are at a point in the article where a new evaluation is probably warranted and am going to talk to one of the lawyers tomorrow to make sure we are in agreement and will update here what the decision is as soon as possible. Jalexander--WMF 02:53, 24 February 2014 (UTC)
- As an update for this we have decided that the reset has gone well enough to justify releasing Office Scrutiny. I left the semi protection on since it had been done for blp reasons but there is no restriction on it's removal etc by the community. Jalexander--WMF 19:51, 24 February 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks James. I think leaving it on semi is fine for now, and we can try lowering it a few months from now. Legoktm (talk) 23:55, 24 February 2014 (UTC)
- Take it off semi now? All the best: Rich Farmbrough, 01:57, 2 June 2014 (UTC).
- Personally I think there is some justification for keeping it on semi indefinitely for now given past issues and some community norms for BLPs where the user has asked for scrutiny/been concerned. That said while I'm keeping an eye on the page (like I do many pages) the official office scrutiny is over so whatever the community decides :) Jalexander--WMF 00:04, 3 June 2014 (UTC)

- Damon Dash hit with arrest warrant, ordered to pay $342K to ex-wife to avoid jail
- "Roy, 41, now lives with their daughters, Tallulah, 8, and Ava, 15, in California. She got full custody two weeks ago after Dash, 43, didn’t show up in a California court. The California judge allowed him to have supervised Sunday afternoon visits with the girls, but Roy got a three-year restraining order that forbids him from going near her."
- "In matrimonial court on Wednesday [April 29, 2015], in addition to the arrest warrant, Cooper ordered Dash to pay $25,000 toward Roy’s legal bills."
