editDid Colorado announce him? I thought he turned them down. Rmt2m 15:21, 15 December 2005 (UTC)Rmt2m
lat I just read they were thinking it might be announced tomorrow. I know it's not official yet. As a Buff fan, I am watching this closely and am very excited.Gator (talk) 15:31, 15 December 2005 (UTC)
I'm sorry Gator1, I've been a Longhorn my whole life. Anyway, here's a story from Tuesday[1] from the Idaho Statesman. Not really any new info, but it does say they hope to announce before the 27th. Rmt2m 15:49, 15 December 2005 (UTC)Rmt2m
Hey, lol, don't be sorry, WE should feel bad....good Lord....thank God for Tivo or that hell would have lasted a lot longer than just one hour for me.....Gator (talk) 15:54, 15 December 2005 (UTC)
Haha. Good Point. Rmt2m 15:58, 15 December 2005 (UTC)Rmt2m
Thnaks for the article. It'd be nice to have a coach for that game against Clemson...yeah that'd be good. Once again GOOD LORD. Oh and I'm cheering for Texas in that game. If they can kick our ass like that they've got to be the best team in the country or else I'll feel EVEN WORSE if that's possible.Gator (talk) 16:00, 15 December 2005 (UTC)
I appreciate that Gator. Sorry for the delay, I had to go take a Philosophy exam. USC has a little better defense than CU, although they are pretty suspect against the pass, which Vince is a little better at this year. Colorado might just be better off by waiting to hire Hawkins until next season, and letting whoever the offensive coordinator is call the game. Let him come in to it in his own season so he doesn't have the sour taste of the Clemson game in his mouth, that is, if they lose the clemson game. Rmt2m 18:09, 15 December 2005 (UTC)Rmt2m
I'd rather have acoach in palce ASAP so as not to hurt recruiting. It looks like this moot (see below) so we'll see what eh can do with this team with the week before the Champ Sports Bowl...well I'LL SEE, I think YOU'LL have a slightly more important bowl on your mind. :)Gator (talk) 18:15, 15 December 2005 (UTC)
I guess you're right. But I just think that the fact Barnett is gone should help recruiting all by itself. Rmt2m 18:19, 15 December 2005 (UTC)Rmt2m
Hey, I liked Barnett (as a coach) I think it stinks they fired him, but this new guy seems like a real catch. I think we might just be OK. :)
Hey, I'm up for admin at [1] and am meeting some opposition for some mistakes I made when I was new here and came to the defense of an obnoxious conservative who I felt needed some assistance. I've apologized but those who I oppose are still upset. I'd apreciate you opinions about me there (no matter what they may be). Thanks.Gator (talk) 18:26, 15 December 2005 (UTC)
Sure thing, you seem like a good guy. So what had the "obnoxious conservative" gotten himself into? Rmt2m 18:39, 15 December 2005 (UTC)Rmt2m
An RFC after being A REALLY obnoxious with some liberal editors. I tried my best to help him (made some mistakes along the way and apologized for them) but he didn't listen, was off the wall and eventually earned himself an indef block. Now my support for him has come up in the RFA and his old opponents are opposing me as an admin. See my answer to questiosn 3 and feel free to evaluate the situation for yourself, I just want your input, whether you vote support, oppose neutral or at all, is not my agenda. Heck, even if you look at it and just e-mail with your thoughts I'd be happy. Thanks for taking the time.Gator (talk) 18:42, 15 December 2005 (UTC)
Yeah, I don't even get involved witht the political pages here, because I can get a little over zealous if I'm not careful. Rmt2m 18:53, 15 December 2005 (UTC)Rmt2m
This isn't close enough to be official?
editIt's not official until its officially announced. Right now its just substantiated rumor. Tell you what, the second its announced, I will let you make the changes and if you're not here I'll be the one who puts your changes back. Patience grasshopper. :)Gator (talk) 18:05, 15 December 2005 (UTC)
Vandalism
editI was wondering when this article would finally get vandalized for the first time. Rmt2m 16:12, 16 December 2005 (UTC)
That was the really bad kind of vandalism too. I didn't recognize it at first....why people feel the need t do that I'll never know...get a life!
- I just created an article on Jack Bicknell, so if you know anything about him or could keep an eye on it, that would be good. Rmt2m 16:49, 16 December 2005 (UTC)
I don't know anything about him but I put it on my watchlist and will fight off the vandals (its what I'm best at anyway).
Head over to Hawkins' replacement article and add anything you know. Rmt2m 19:18, 26 December 2005 (UTC)
Oh boy
editIs he in for a fun time at CU or what? 34 yards of total offense in the first half against Clemson. Ouch. Rmt2m 00:00, 28 December 2005 (UTC)
Oh yeah
editHe looks good with those colors. LET'S GET IT ON!Gator (talk) 23:00, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah I think he'll do pretty good. He might just win the Big XII North next year. I mean they did this year so why not next year too, you know? Rmt2m 01:00, 28 January 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah let's make it 5 out of the past 6 years baby, screw Nebraska!Gator (talk) 01:07, 28 January 2006 (UTC)
- Mmm, I don't know now. I see Colorado being in the 7 or 8 win record region next year, and I don't know how they will deal with the Huskers, Nebraskas got an impressive new recruiting class coming in. Looks to me like Florida will be the team to beat next year overall. Rmt2m 02:40, 29 January 2006 (UTC)
Feb 14 2007 Rant
editI don't believe this is encyclopedic. At the least, there needs to be some source we can cite stating this. I removed a quote added by an IP and a similar quote reappeared after the Feb 14 episode. I believe this only belongs on WikiQuote, especially if we can't source it. --MECU≈talk 14:21, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
- I've found a source for this to get the exact language, but I still don't see it as encyclopedic. See [4] --MECU≈talk 16:57, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
If ESPN runs a poll on it to see which rant is the best with this one included, I believe that means its notable. All other incidents/quotes are listed in the offenders articles(Jim Mora, Dennis Green, Etc). I believe that makes it notable. Celestialaly12 01:00, 21 February 2007 (UTC)Aly
- An ESPN poll doesn't make it notable. Do we include every ESPN poll stat on Wikipedia? Just because other articles do it doesn't mean this is notable. --MECU≈talk 02:21, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
- This is absolutely notable - in fact, it's the most notable thing about Hawkins. Look at all these articles that are specifically about Hawkins' rant: Denver Post, Idaho Statesman, ABC News, An ABC affiliate in Kentucky, Fox Sports ... seriously, what is the argument that it's not notable? | Mr. Darcy talk 20:45, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
- To say this is the most notable thing about Hawkins is insane: His team won or shared the conference title for 4 years in a row at Boise State: That is way more notable. I think this is a case of "it's recent" so it's notable. Looking back in a few years it won't really be all that notable. I guess since I'm the only objector and there have been ~10 insertions, I'm fine with it. But re-visiting the issue in a few years and removal may be appropriate at that time. --MECU≈talk 21:58, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

Suggested name change
editShall we rename the article Dan Hawkins (Gridiron Football)? He is now a Canadian football coach after all. Dbrodbeck (talk) 22:24, 19 February 2013 (UTC)
- Per WP:PRIMARYTOPIC, this page should be just Dan Hawkins. --Hirolovesswords (talk) 02:26, 20 February 2013 (UTC)

Survey
edit- Comment wouldn't this depend on whether you're in the UK or the US? -- 65.92.180.137 (talk) 05:23, 22 February 2013 (UTC)
- Comment either just to Dan Hawkins or Dan Hawkins (Gridiron Football) as he is now a Canadian football coach, not an American football one. Dbrodbeck (talk) 13:13, 23 February 2013 (UTC)
- Comment Dan Hawkins (gridiron football) would need to be used if this isn't moved to the plain name. And a redirect from Dan Hawkins (Canadian football) also needs to be created. -- 65.92.180.137 (talk) 21:00, 25 February 2013 (UTC)
- Support. One or the other should be primary, per WP:TWODABS. Kauffner (talk) 23:42, 25 February 2013 (UTC)
