I found a clip from about 1971 on YouTube (John Morris Rankin appears in it, and says he's twelve years old). The clip includes Dan R briefly playing and also telling the story of his violin. When asked how many tunes he'd written, he says, "Oh, I guess roughly about... two thousand, anyway."
