Worthy of article?

edit

Is dance in Canada really worthy of an article? The different dances might be, but this is essentially just listing them. --Tango 19:17, 5 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

There is certainly a lot to tell about dancing in Canada.
There are native dances and we need an article at least for pointers (and until we have the separate articles, the dances can be written about here). I also suppose there is a lot to tell about how well the traditions have been maintained and about political steps or movements to further or repress them.
For competitive dancing, which is what the article now is about, we should have at least some notes about popularity and organisation.
Then we have social dancing brought here by immigrants. The traditions probably soon diverged from that in the old homelands, at least in the countryside. What about the cities? Did they share the ballroom culture with old Europe?
And the current situation? What is dancing like at night clubs, student balls, weddings, what have you. Do people go dancing Saturday nights? Where, dancing what? The situation might be similar to that of USA and Europe, but I suppose there is still quite a lot of variation from country to country (and regional differences within the country, which can be dealt with on the national scale).
