Boxing promoter or organised criminal?
editRespectfully, I point out that most of the world never heard of Daniel Kinahan until the Tyson Fury-Anthony Joshua match was organised. Yet this article places more weight on his alleged criminal past. Several attempts to create a more neutral perspective have been rebuffed by editors. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:8084:2142:1480:715C:4D0C:5A6C:2122 (talk) 15:18, 17 June 2020 (UTC)
- Depends what world you live in. Majority of references date back well prior to one potential boxing match. If this individual was a run-of-the-mill boxing fixer, there probably wouldn't be a wikipedia article about him ... or any notoriety associated with him. It's entirely appropriate to therefore discuss what's clearly relevant - there isn't an article in the past month about Kinahan where it doesn't refer to his involvement in "organised criminality". All the content so far is sourced, so drive-by tagging is not appropriate. If you want to have a proper discussion, please log in and have that discussion. IrishSpook (talk) 22:23, 17 June 2020 (UTC)
No convictions
editDaniel Kinahan has never been convicted of any crime in a court of law. Be careful not to give undue weight to rumour and innuendo. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:8084:2142:1480:4CB6:985A:8C9F:B46 (talk • contribs)
He’s just organised the biggest fight in British boxing history and all you want to talk about is his “alleged” (no convictions!) criminal past. What happened to innocent before proven guilty? 213.233.147.121 (talk) 17:53, 13 June 2020 (UTC)
Bit more background

Unreliable source?
editIn a recent edit, Squared.Circle.Boxing deleted a paragraph, with the comment Not reliable for the claims made. The source is the Sunday World, which I don't see listed at WP:RSP nor does it seem to be listed at WP:RSN. Can any one cite examples of unreliability? Autarch (talk) 15:02, 15 March 2022 (UTC)
I think I meant more along the lines of: the article's claims aren't strong enough to warrant inclusion in an encyclopaedia. The source says,
I think we also need to keep in mind that the article is about Daniel Kinahan and not the Kinahan Cartel. Most of the content that's in that section should probably be in an article of its own. – 2.O.Boxing 16:19, 15 March 2022 (UTC)The Sunday World understands that groups including the Kinahan mafia have been buying up large farms called 'Fincas', where vast swathes of cannabis could be grown in controlled conditions and sold on as 'organic cannabis'.
(bolding mine). I presume this information comes from the samesource
that's quoted in the article, so this isn't something that's confirmed, hence the wording that I've bolded. No reference to court documents or police reports, justa source
. I think a much stronger source is needed to be included in a BLP.- Thank you for the clarification. Autarch (talk) 16:53, 15 March 2022 (UTC)
- Although Nicola Tallant writes for the generally non-RS Sunday World, she can be taken as creditable and a RS in her own right, and has a lot of first hand exposure here. Ceoil (talk) 02:52, 16 March 2022 (UTC)

MTK shutting down
editMTK is shutting down according to the Financial Times: https://www.ft.com/content/96082e8e-bcf2-441b-b5d4-1805f5f5874d
"MTK Global, a boxing agency co-founded by Daniel Kinahan in 2012, said on Wednesday that it was shutting down following the imposition of US sanctions on the Kinahans. The company, which has not itself been sanctioned, parted ways with Kinahan in 2017. It said it had faced “unprecedented levels of unfair scrutiny”."
Please update the article to reflect the above, thanks 2A02:8084:2142:1480:E0D9:8177:E2D:CC28 (talk) 17:32, 21 April 2022 (UTC)
