Danail or Daniil (Δανιήλ)

edit

I don't think there are any sources pointing to Daniel's name as being written "Danail". So I propose changing it to Daniil or Dhaniil. Also, the article needs clean-up, for spelling errors like "Akademy", instead of "Academy" etc. --79.106.109.21 (talk) 13:30, 5 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Recent move

Such moves without making any proposal first can be considered highly tendentious. I've reverted this move since the initial form seems to be present in bibliography:

  • "daniel moschopolitis"[[1]]
  • "daniel moschopolites" [[2]]
  • "Daniil Moschopolitis" [[3]]

Indeed, if someone wants to move a page, the appropriate way to go about it is to propose the move on the talkpage, not ram it through without asking anyone. Athenean (talk) 06:05, 7 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
Technically, I have to correct you: WP:BOLD applies to page moves just as it does everywhere else. Fut.Perf. 06:16, 7 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
I suppose, though the rest of WP:BRD would apply to page moves as well. Athenean (talk) 06:21, 7 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
I was thinking that we are all a little ridiculous with all this editing in one page and then the other, without finishing the first. I wish we all could finish one page, bring it at least to B status and then move on to the next. Instead all we do, is to see what one editor does, run after him, waste time, and get nothing done. That's why I had started the Greek-Albanian cooperation board: to have a list of areas of priority and work all together on that direction. Today is Daniel Moscopolites, yesterday was Byllis, two months ago fustanella. Why can't we have an agenda of priorities and follow that? --Sulmues Let's talk 12:34, 7 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Daniel Moscopolites is a relevant figure for Balkan history. He is known for the writing of Introductory Education, a work including a dictionary of Aromanian, Albanian, Greek and Bulgarian in which he incited the Balkan peoples to assimilate into the Greeks. This work has been studied by several Balkan authors and provides important information regarding national identity in the Balkans at the time, with Bulgarians and Macedonians now disputing whose language was in the dictionary, and also an early instance of recorded Aromanian.

But that's it. Daniel is not really known for anything else as far as I know. His notability is aligned to that of his work, and there is no point for the author and his only work to be separate articles. Further, Lexicon Tetraglosson is just a copy-paste of this article with some other added info which is actually only biographical details of Daniel and not about the work itself. Thus, they should be merged. Having these two closely interrelated subjects split into two articles is not helpful to readers. Super Ψ Dro 15:09, 18 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
