Describing gamergate as a movement

This is a niche position along the lines of claiming that there are child labour camps on mars. The gross majority of contemporary reliable sources do not describe it as anything close to a 'movement', and we cannot be describing it as such here. PeterTheFourth (talk) 01:36, 25 April 2018 (UTC)

In retrospect, most would no longer describe Gamergate as a movement. However, I think it is still a valid term to use when describing how it started. This is also relevant considering the nature of Vávra's support of Gamergate (the censorship and biased journalism part, but not the harassment aspect.) — AfroThundr (talk) 12:08, 25 April 2018 (UTC)

Vávra's association with Gamergate is discussed in depth elsewhere

Namely on Talk:Kingdom_Come:_Deliverance. On a sidenote, i made an edit in line with my proposal on that talk page, which i will adjust as the dialogue there progresses. The difficulty is, shortly summarized, that Vavra has views on gaming journalism, but that was just a small part of gamergate, which ended up being mostly a harassment campaign. However, we do not want to suggest Vávra was involved in harassment, misoginy or hate speech, because he wasn't. Please don't reply to this post, reply where the discussion is ongoing: link.
