An awkward expression. I'm changing it to the customary "Jewish American" used when there is a reason to include a person's religion as is the case here. Hyphenation is common for a person of two nationalities but that is not the case for Daniel Pearl, nor is Jewish religion or ethnicity ever treated as a nationality in the U.S. See the lead sentence in the cited article American Jews.
