I’ve noticed that there are a few things that could be updated on the article. Because I work at the Metropoltian Museum and am mindful of conflict of interest, I leave these updates as suggestions for fellow Wikipedia editors.

18-JAN-2018 Expanded edit summary re: materials removed from the article
editA portion of the material found in the Daniel Weiss (art historian) article has been removed, as it appears to be copyrighted text added without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. The complete listing of copied materials may be found here.
- Information which is added to the article and originates from another source must be marked as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and the source cited using an inline citation. More information about this requirement can be read at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text".
- Aside from limited quotations, added text must be put in a person's own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using their own words, editors are still asked to cite their sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
- The primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. Editors may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If contributors to this article have any questions about this, they are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Spintendo ᔦᔭ 20:45, 18 January 2018 (UTC)
- @Spintendo: Thank you for your response. I wanted to make clear that I did not write the original article & clarifying the request was to update selected facts. Also requesting for the new image to be uploaded & for any Wikipedia editors to freely cite the Met's press release containing Dan Weiss' information. - @Spintendo: Thank you for uploading the image. A few more edits that could be suggested....Dan Weiss's middle initial could be added to the main article title to match the info box. The press release could be used as a source. [1] The press release also states some facts regarding his title/position. Under the infobox he is listed as "acting" CEO, when his appointment was made permanent in the announcement referenced above. I would also like to suggest the "acting" title be removed & reformatted to say "CEO of Metropolitan Museum of Art", then the "Assumed Office" portion right below. Also, under the "President of the Metropolitan Museum of Art" section, the in-office date starts on March 10,2015 & ends on February 28, 2017. The press release mentions his continuing role as President to the museum past the February date listed. It would also be helpful for this update to be reflected in the main text body as well, so there's no confusion on his current employment status. Thank you. Requesting infobox to be updated
editThis edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. |
Hello,
I would like to suggest the following edits to Dan Weiss' infobox. His current appointment can be confirmed through this article [4] with the distinctions re-mentioned in a recent press article regarding the new director of the museum [5]. There is also an official leadership section on the museum's website which highlights the organization's leadership & brief background [6].
Thank you,

editImplemented The inforbox has been appended to the article. Additionally, the quote which was shown in the article has been edited for brevity. As far as including information from the infobox in the main text, it is suggested to do, but not required. (See MOS:INFOBOX.) If you'd like to include information from the infobox in the main text, you are free to propose, here on the talk page, sentences of text along with references which may be added to the article. Please note that if using references which originate within the subject's realm of influence (i.e., his employer, etc.) this is allowed only as long as:
- it is not unduly self-serving;
- it does not involve claims about third parties;
- it does not involve claims about events not directly related to the subject;
- there is no reasonable doubt as to its authenticity;
- the article is not based primarily on such sources. (See WP:BLPSELFPUB.)

22 May edits
editIn consultation with representatives of the Museum, (ticket:2018051810012929) I worked out some draft language to address this slightly confusing sequence of events — Weiss was at one time the chief operating officer, then became president then became CEO. The photo did not have the caption and the first line of the INFOBOX look like it was a caption so I added a caption.
I think I have the dates and positions correct now.--S Philbrick(Talk) 19:29, 22 May 2018 (UTC)
- Nice job, thanks for that! SEMMENDINGER (talk) 20:03, 22 May 2018 (UTC)
