Associated acts ?
editThere are a lot of acts listed as associated - what are the associations ? Did he work with Negron and Wells outside of Three Dog Night ? Did he work with the others, or just cover their songs ? -- Beardo (talk) 16:32, 26 December 2018 (UTC)
The hitchhiker
editI met Danny Hutton in County Donegal in Ireland in August 1977. I was hitchhiking from Killybegs to Malin Beg when he picked me up.
We had a friendly, casual chat and he told me his name and that he sang in a rock band. When he told me it was Three Dog Night I said, "Oh yeah, I know your song, Jeremiah Was a Bullfrog from the radio!" He corrected me and told me the real name of the song was Joy to the World.
He talked about touring as a rock band and about one gig he played in a bar in Alaska where there was a chickenwire screen in front of the stage because bar patrons would throw beer bottles at the bands playing there.
I was amazed by the story and even more startled when this precise scenario was portrayed a few years later in the film, The Blues Brothers. Watching the film and seeing broken glass showering onto Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi, I wondered how many bars in America had chickenwire in front of the stage, and why bar owners allowed such mayhem.
Hutton told me he was visiting relatives in Donegal and he went a few miles out of his way to bring me all the way to Malin Beg before turning back towards Letterkenny, his original destination. — O'Dea (talk) 22:05, 12 December 2020 (UTC)
