Is it true that Le Bon Dieu dans la rue was told by the Quebec government to take "Le Bon Dieu" out of its name or lose its funding? When? --Richardson mcphillips (talk) 00:56, 3 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Proposed for Deletion (Unjustified)

Dans la Rue absolutely meets the standards for a prominent organization at the national level (Canada).

Anyone that suggests Dans la Rue isn't a prominent organization in Canada clearly isn't Canadian. It's arguably the country's best known homeless charity, less significant charities like Chez Doris, Old Brewery Mission or Haven Toronto have their own pages, and the articles are smaller and have less content. Dans la Rue is undoubtedly the most prominent page in the entire Category:Homeless shelters in Canada for that matter. I'll fight the deletion of this page up to the administrative level if I have to. ---StevenBjerke97 talk 16:53, 10 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

What I would suggest is bring up the sources to what meets WP:ORGDEPTH standards. Currently, the article is written mostly based off of its OWN website and was looking like an extension of their website. Media mentions seem to be routine or in passing and what I could find in a quick search does not meet WP:ORGDEPTH Graywalls (talk) 00:27, 11 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
@StevenBjerke97:, but other stuff exist is hardly a justification. I agree Haven Toronto don't satisfy notability requirements either and PROD that one as well. I haven't looked at the other two. Graywalls (talk) 00:33, 11 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

I agree that the article can be improved with much better sources, especially in comparison to the French Wikipedia version.

Dans la Rue is featured very prominently in Canadian and Québec media for its work and and I will be adding mainstream media sources and doing a significant rewrite tomorrow. Thanks for pointing out the lack of media references, I will get to it. -StevenBjerke97 talk 01:24, 11 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

It would be useful to carefully read WP:NORG and WP:AUD. Simply being in major media is not enough to establish notability if they don't meet WP:ORGDEPTH. If you're not sure, it would help to post the sources here for evaluation. The notability criteria aren't the same across Wikimedia projects and en.wikipedia's standards aren't necessarily the same as French version, which I am not familiar with.
