Refocus
editI'd like this article changed, so that it focuses on the process of database refactoring, rather than emphasizng the term for the "smallest possible change" (see refactoring). It is bewildering to the beginner as to why anyone would want to make a single, small change ... unless we explain that the point is to make a series of such changes, resulting in overall simplification of a system. Or speeding it up, or something.
In short, let's distinguish between the refactoring process and "a refactoring". --Uncle Ed (talk) 21:38, 4 February 2011 (UTC)
I've introduced sections, and started in on them, for Examples of DB refactorings and the process of DB Refactorings. ScottWAmbler (talk) 15:45, 25 July 2019 (UTC)
The process of database refactoring section needs to be fleshed out some more. Basically subsections for each of the considerations that I've listed need to be added. I hope to do so soon, although would welcome anyone jumping in and doing so themselves. ScottWAmbler (talk) 15:45, 25 July 2019 (UTC)
