Should this page have a link to long song titles like this?

Daughters are Grindcore, not Metalcore. yes?
To answer this question, I'd say that's a tough one because how often does music safely fit into genres or subgenres? Okay, well, maybe music quite often safely fit into genres and subgenres, but I'd say Daughters isn't one of those bands. In my estimation, closer to metalcore or even post-punk, considering that the singer doesn't really scream anymore--not grindcore. When I think Grindcore, I think of bands like Pig Destroyer and Cattle Decapitation. Not so much Daughters.
BUT, more importantly, why was this page paired down so hard? It used to be a couple paragraphs long with some interesting information. Now, it's just essential facts. Maybe it's something "everyone can agree on" but in my opinion, it's "more boring."

What the hell is hard noise rock? isnt it post-hardcore/grindcore/noise-rock/mathcore. how bout post-grind noisemath? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.67.120.192 (talk) 03:00, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
its probly post-punk now, because it is heavily influenced by the birthday party. but u cant deny that it used to be noise-grind. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.67.120.192 (talk) 03:05, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
Grindcore category
editAdding the grindcore groups category. Source: Terrorizer #115 (December 2003), review of Canada Songs by Martin Ives - "Daughters take the humble infrastructure of grind, and add more discordant guitars and arrangements than are necessary, driving it beyond self-indulgence and creating a new niche all of their own within the cluttered Locusts-alikes of this world." - "Daughters take the humble infrastructure of grind, and..." can be read many different ways... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.47.20.72 (talk) 02:42, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
Would no one agree that Hell Songs was more Avante-Garde than anything. Think Sleepytime Gorilla Museam. Shows a lot of similar elements. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.70.73.218 (talk) 09:45, 15 June 2008 (UTC)
Photo?
editThere used to be kind of a dope picture of them on this site. What happened? Unless there was some inane copywright concern, I see no reason for it to have been taken down.
Singing style transition between Canada Songs and Hell Songs
editAlso, when I originally wrote the article on this band, I included some stuff on how Alexis' singing style was so different on Hell Songs compared to Canada Songs. I described the difference as "objectively" as possible and even included a quote (from CMJ Magazine, if I remember correctly) from Alexis about the switch. Then I went back a few months after I wrote it, and there was like one or two sentences in the entire article, something like: "Daughters is a rock band from Providence, RI." In a lot of ways, that's why doing decent articles on wikipedia is an impossible task. One person disagrees with some stuff in the article and erases nearly the entire thing; articles are reduced to their lowest (dumbest) common denominator.
Hiatus
editI know not everyone will see it but the band did make a Patreon post saying that they’re on hiatus. Is that worth adding? 2600:1015:B04D:B39A:E9F2:EA41:DDF6:B6A4 (talk) 08:26, 29 November 2021 (UTC)
- I would recommend submitting this as a news tip to a online music publication. They can confirm with the band/label and create a news post that we can use as a source on this page. I agree with Bowling is life's assessment in the edit history that Patreon should not be used as a source on Wikipedia. Fezmar9 (talk) 18:16, 29 November 2021 (UTC)
