Expansion

edit

We need 'the voice in ruth's head' myspace page. i tried to put it up but someone said i was advertising a product. voice is part of the show so why cant i update her? if the people that moderate this listened to the show they would know that.

Among the things that are needed:

  • a better photo of Dave, Shelly, and Chainsaw (the one on the KGB page is nice, but it's copyrighted, and the website's terms of service forbid use of anything on the website without explicit written permission)
  • Chucko's real name [Shelley Brown]
  • description of Quiet-Talking James (I added some, but feel free to add more explanation)
  • plot summary of the J–K Conspiracy
  • more bits
  • more of Mike that character Mugwumps' names [Mugwump is history; Shelly's new beau is Dean, whose nickname is "The Commander"]
  • Boyer and the Hoof? What is the story?
  • The effect of Free FM on the station overall, and the ongoing feud with Tom Leykis.

Some related articles could be used too, though they don't count towards the {{expansion}}:

Miscellaneous:

  • The link to Dave's bands isn't working correctly.

I have photos of Dave, Shelly, and Chainsaw, plus Boyer .... I took them in the KGB studio about one year ago. Chris@SDRadio.net. LOVE YOUR SHOW!

Added content

edit

I have added a few things...

Sheree Martin (Chick in the Chair) is a known and regular caller. (And my cousin!) Added a couple of names for Shelly's hubby. Added content about the Grand-A-Day giveaway. Added content about Bud Schlitz.

Homemade Jingle Contest

edit

I think we also need information regarding the Homemade Jingle Contest.PantherFoxie 06:53, 1 November 2005 (UTC)Reply

did it. — boredzo () 10:39, 2005-11-02 (UTC)

I just added the mention of the first-prize winner for 2005, but it should also have the second-, third-, and runner-up prizes. it also needs the name of the song that James covered. — boredzo () 07:58, 2005-11-04 (UTC)

"Best of" Tapes and CDs

edit

It would be a good idea to list all of the "best of" tapes, CDs and DVDs, but I don't know them all (and it would be great if there was an explanation of the titles, when applicable). The ones I know are:

2004-2005 The DJs are the Heros 2003-2004 The J-K Conspiracy 2002-2003 Puppets are Clogging My Brain 1990-2002 The Greatest CD Ever! 2001 Nothing But Trouble (a phrase coined by Dave's youngest daughter when she was about 5 years old) 2000 The Breast of...Dave, Shelly and Chainsaw 1998-1999 Decade of Decadence 1997-1998 No Talent Punks (which is how a non-fan caller referred to D, S & C.) 1996-1997 Double Talking Liars (another accusation from another non-fan) 1995-1996 Sprechen Sie Douche? ? Old Lady Maggothead I think there were others????

The group has been putting out best-of's since their Dawn Patrol days. I believe 1991 was their first. I'll have to talk to Sheree and see what the others were.

In the CD "The greatest CD Ever!" there is a list of all of their best-of CDs. 1994-1995 - Old Lady Maggothead 1993-1994 - Exposed! 1992-1993 - Repeat Offenders 1991-1992 - Sophomoric Behavior 1990-1991 - The Rookie Season

Added content

edit

I added a section on Roddd and Lance, and I edited the 12 DofC section where it talks about the Grand-a-day giveaway to be past tense, as it's unknown if it will continue this year. Raderick 10:22, 12 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Commander Butch

edit

Is he really stationed in Iraq? I could had swarn that he was re-located to Corpus Christie, Texas, and could move back to San Diego by the end of the year.

History

edit

Is it possible for us to work on a history page? It seems like most, if not, all Wikipedia pages has a history section, so why not here? We can document their days at Q106, passing of Dave's wife, pre-Dawn Patrol days, etc.

While we're at that, can we start work on individual pages, for example, we don't have pages for Cookie Randolph or Shelly Dunn yet. I imagine that this will very hard to do, as there isn't a whole lot of information available on the internet about any of the cast.

Ask Us anything!

edit

I understand that the bit includes callers asking the gang anything they so desires, but is there some un-official boundary? For example, I haven't heard a caller ever ask about Dave's deseaced wife, nor have I heard anything about his wife since the week or two after he came back on the air.

I'm sure most of The DSC's listeners have good enough taste not to bombard Dave with questions regarding his dead wife, which, especially during the time when he had just returned to the show. How would you feel, in his position? PantherFoxie 17:23, 27 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Baseball Fever Clips?

edit

Does anyone know who does the Baseball Fever clips, where the announcer usually calls play-by-play using many sexual entendres?

Pete Hansen. These bits are heard nationwide and are available through syndication on Premiere Radio Networks. Check your local listings!

You can't find and download a few of the Pete Hansen "Baseball Fever" clips here http://thepetehansenshow.mypodcast.com/ from his "The Pete Hansen Show" podcast. In fact, you may not be able to find Pete Hansen anywhere. The podcast has been taken down and the clips are almost non-existent. There is one and only one clip on youtube (just search "baseball.flv").

Current clips can be recorded off of the DSC - 100.7 KFM-BFM they are no longer on 101.5 KGB. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.8.21.158 (talk) 05:33, 24 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Just so that anyone wonders what happened...

edit

I don't know what I did, but I deleted a piece of the article, but I have since restored and put back some of the edits that I did. Can someone make sure that everything is still there. My humble apologies. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Raderick (talkcontribs) 11:25, April 17, 2006.

It is worth mentioning

edit

That this article got mentioned via Ask Us Anything on the show Wednesday!

New content

edit

I've added two new areas of content:

First, I added a section for bumper songs used on the show. I was able to name four. Please expand it.

Second, I've added a DSC page on Wikiquote:

Please expand that too. — boredzo () 13:15, 2006-07-25 (UTC)

I also just added a section for commercial songs (used in the background of ad-libs). This also needs expansion. — boredzo () 13:35, 2006-07-25 (UTC)

SCHUTIE!!! GOD!!!

We need to clean this up

edit

The bits section is a mess. We need to sort things out by actual bits, info about the show, and even have a controversy section (as we know, the show had their share of it) --Raderick 11:56, 17 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Unsourced statements?

edit

Why's this article in Category:Articles with unsourced statements? To be sure, almost all of the statements in the article are not explicitly attributed, but I think it can be legitimately assumed that they refer to the show. — boredzo () 08:41, 2007-01-05 (UTC)

Because of this statement
"The J-K Conspiracy is a movie produced by Dave, Shelly, and Chainsaw, directed by Chainsaw, and released in 2005. It stars the entire show, plus a number of celebrities (such as Bob Costas, Doug Flutie, Don Rickles, and Laura Schlessinger) and several notable listeners (including Listener Lex, Commander Butch, and Quiet-Talking James)"
Rich Farmbrough, 23:17 24 February 2007 (GMT).
Since no sources have surfaced in over 3 years and this was also a part of the contention that got it nominated for deletion, this section has been removed.--RadioFan (talk) 22:19, 24 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Some corrections...

edit

I (Quiet Talking James) don't want to edit the page, someone else can do that but I just wanted to clear something up, and that is that although I would have LOVED to be in The J-K Conspiracy, I was not. Commander Butch and Blind Stan were lucky and talented enough to be in it, but not I.

Someone also wanted a description of me and though I could sum it up with the phrase "Shy loner..." One can go to my myspace page (www.myspace.com/quietalker [just one 't']) or my band's page (www.myspace.com/redhanded101) ...pretty much sums it up.

Thanks for listening...

Long article, few sources

edit

I've tagged the "Bits" section for its lack of sources, but that's a general problem with this article. From my experience with articles on similar shows, I doubt that significant sources can be found for most of the contents. Let's give it a few months and then cut down the unsourced materials.   Will Beback  talk  08:47, 13 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
