Great entry :) -- sodium

Thanks, Can someone post his Date of Birth? I'm NOT sure if it's 1925 !!! He died on the 7th of October, 1999 though. That's for sure (100% accuracy, from UC archives) -- Saghmos

Google-searching, some of the text seems to have been copied from http://www.ucsc.edu/currents/99-00/10-11/huffman.html, are you sure you have got permission for this? -- sodium

Photo

edit

I have a photo that David gave me years ago. I think he would like it to be the one on his Wikipedia entry: http://www.thunder-monkey.com/david_huffman-lg.jpg

I have no idea how to put it into the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.36.249.35 (talk) 23:35, 15 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Can someone please help out who knows how to post the picture? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.36.240.37 (talk) 17:10, 15 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

"Survivors"

edit

I don't get why this information is so important to be in Wikipedia:

David Huffman passed away at the age of 74 after a 10-month battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Huffman, of Santa Cruz; his former wife, Jane Ayres Huffman; their three children, Elise, Linda, and Stephen Huffman, all of Santa Cruz; a son-in-law, Jeff Grubb, of Santa Cruz; a stepdaughter, Marti Homer Kehlet, of Sacramento, her husband, Daret, and their daughter, Karsen; a stepson, Darin Homer of Prunedale, his wife, Jane, and their son, Ryan; and a brother, Donald Huffman, of Westerville, Ohio, his wife, Jean, and their family.

IMO it should be removed from the article.

"History"

edit

The History section on the Huffman Coding page contradicts what is given here (and seems to be correct). --weemadarthur 198.152.14.67 (talk) 10:04, 19 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

I reported the issue to Moonriddengirl. I'm working on a rewrite, not finished yet. See Talk:David A. Huffman/Temp. -- SchreyP (messages) 21:53, 12 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
Current temp version good enough to be merged with old article. For more details and potential new copyvio, see Wikipedia:Copyright problems/2011 July 5. -- SchreyP (messages) 21:52, 17 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
