CSI:Miami crticism not objective
editThe CSI:Miami segment contains comments that are subjective. I would consider directly quoting (and linking to) critics from other sources rather than including them in such a way as to appear to be original wiki content. The statements are: "In this role Caruso has consistently earned the distinction of being perhaps one of the worst actors on prime time television. His dramatic posturing, glib comments and lack of character depth have gathered a following of fans who find this drama "one of the best comedies on T.V. (see James and Williams 2006)'" This would make it clear that it is a common criticism and not factual. --P06o 19:11, 21 February 2007 (UTC)Joel
South Park reference should be removed
editThere's no reason to mention South Park. Unless Caruso voiced a character on the cartoon, the cartoon is entirely irrelevant to *this* article. It's ok to mention Caruso in the article about the cartoon episode, but not ok to mention the cartoon in this article. There are literally hundreds or thousands of references to Caruso on TV, and it would absurd to mention every trivial little one of them. Fans of the cartoon, should stick to the cartoon article, and not insert nonsense into every article South Park happens to allude to. Are we also going to update George W. Bush with the nonsense from this cartoon? After all, I'm sure they've made references to him as well. But, guesse what, nobody cares. Cartoon fans look in cartoon articles, not in biographies of unrelated persons. --Rob 02:22, 12 February 2006 (UTC)
- There are references less or better remembered; six years later I still remember this scene I saw maybe one time. This is not really about the cartoon anyway. Caruso ridiculed himself widely; the cartoon just expresses this very well; it is hardly "nonsense". 80.11.211.160 05:17, 12 February 2006 (UTC)
- And I remember some hilarious jokes of George W. Bush, but shant be putting them in that article. All famous people have huge numbers of people, making assorted jokes about them. Its really no big deal. This is all worthy of inclussion in the cartoon article, which is read by cartoon watchers. It just doesn't belong here. --Rob 05:24, 12 February 2006 (UTC)
- These analogies are interesting but erroneous. In politics, appreciation of someone's decisions and of their effect can vary according to the political views of the observer. Here, nobody questions that Caruso acted foolishly. And nobody tries to pour a full ton of jokes either; we talk about a single sentence. Stop trying to whitewash Caruso's past. Stop vandalizing this page. 80.11.211.160 05:36, 12 February 2006 (UTC)
- Read WP:NPOV and WP:NPA. --Rob 05:38, 12 February 2006 (UTC)
- Per WP:NPOV, facts are not points of view; the "factuality" of the sentence is unquestioned. There is no NPA problem either (I assume versus you) because I comment on what you are doing here, and not on what you do or are in general: you present invalid justifications for a censoring behaviour. 80.11.211.160 06:11, 12 February 2006 (UTC)

I agree with Rob. If every person satired in a Southpark episode had a mention on their respective page, Wikipedia would be full of them. Prometheus-X303-
- But every person satirized etc. DOES have the mention on his article. This is typical of Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia that any moron can edit. 66.108.4.183 06:40, 6 September 2006 (UTC)
- I removed the South Park trivia. I've not seen the episode mentioned, but knowing what I do about South Park, I don't think any satire on the show is as specific as the section suggests.
*The first South Park animated series episode ("Cartman Gets an Anal Probe") satirically illustrates David's career after leaving NYPD Blue as falling flat on earth after jumping from a spaceship. Prometheus-X303- 00:50, 25 March 2006 (UTC)
A recent edit makes the reference much more clear: *In the first episode of South Park, ("Cartman Gets an Anal Probe") Kyle tells his brother Ike to "do your impersonation of David Caruso's career" to get Ike to jump out of a spaceship. PrometheusX303 12:45, 9 June 2006 (UTC)
- I know this issue appears to be settled. I agree that every joke about an actor should no be included. I do feel the south park event should be included. 2 reasons, it is a simple commentary on his life and reflected the opinion of most people at the time. Second it was the first eposiode of what became a very popular TV show. I myself distinctly remember that line, and to many people who did not see him on NYPD Blue this is all they knew of him at the time. Its true every joke about George Bush should not be included in his article, but if there was a politician who was unknown and many people learned of him for the first time on a tv show it would be worth mentioning..
- Finally there is a part where it talks about a TV guide article that very few if anyone ever read or care about. Additionally the article mentions a joke on Dave Letterman, that again, very few people ever saw or would care about.
- I will put the line back in after the line about the TV guide article... If you are going to delete it please remove the David letterman and TV guide section. Mantion (talk) 09:27, 19 April 2011 (UTC)
Trivia?
edit- Is the worst actor in hollywood.
Worthless
- In the first episode of South Park, ("Cartman Gets an Anal Probe") Kyle tells his brother Ike to "do your impersonation of David Caruso's career" to get Ike to jump out of a spaceship.
Also worthless
The entire "trivia" portion of the David Caruso article should be deleted

revision of "worst"
editIt's easy to believe that Caruso is either being directed or playing to camp. The assertion that he is "one of the the worst actors on television" is unsubstantiated. Removing it. 68.122.0.11 17:55, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
"one of the more humble and understated actors of his generation"
edit- Caruso is considered one of the more humble and understated actors of his generation[citation needed].
Puh-leez. I mean really. This nonsense should be removed until a citation can be found -- which will be never. Xandergr8 03:11, 20 March 2007 (UTC) Agreed. That's opinionated, and in my opinion, wildly untrue. "One of the worst and most annoying to watch actors of any generation" would be more accurate. Removed. Also asked for a cite to the "leading German publication".207.2.156.52 03:23, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
Actually, rude original poster; TV Guide, I believe, made the 'humble and understated' comment, after an interview.
Did you know the man turns down all work outside of Miami, because he wants to focuss on his career? He's been given this second chance, and he's running with it, and his success has been proven, along with CSI Miami's success rate. People like to poke fun at him, and talk down about his acting and his life, but could you do it? On a set, you can be up until three and four in the morning to get a scene cut, and then be expected to show up first thing the next morning. You don't always get much sleep, and it's constant memorization. They don't just sit there and improv. They have a show to put out there, and they only have so much time in which to do it in, in order for the episdodes to play consitently to please the public. A two hour movie can take a year or more to film. Television, you have up to ten days to get a 47 and a half minute show done. Just like a movie, you have to have a beginning, middle, and end. Sure, you can have recurring themes (CSI- the Miniature Killer) but you still have to have a close to each episode unless you wish to make it last twice it's normal time slot by cutting it in the climax (CSI- 'Living Doll', 'Dead Doll') only to pick it up in the very next episode. You have to remember every little character tick and details. Could you do it? Think twice before you answer. I'd bet you couldn't. Disagree? Prove me wrong. Go get a lead roll in one of today's hottest tv dramas, and stop complaining because no one really honestly cares what you think. love from lilly black dot com
We all know how television works. The long hours, very little sleep. But that doesn't stop other primetime leads from acting as poorly as he does. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.128.166.150 (talk) 20:24, 25 October 2008 (UTC)
Worst Actor
editI'm adding this on the talk page because I don't know the markup to properly cite it, and I know someone will spazz out if I put it in uncited. David Caruso won the Worst Actor award at the 2004 TeeVee awards. Source: http://www.teevee.org/archive/2004/09/16/index.html unless 03:05, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
Hudson Hawk?
editDavid Caruso played "Kit Kat" in the movie Hudson Hawk. I'd like to see it added into this page, of course, but am not sure where to put it. Mfryc 14:23, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

Bobble Head?
editThe Bobble Head section of this article has been removed and reverted a few times. It seems like the section is overly large, but that just may mean that his Career section should be fleshed out more. Some citations in the Bobble Head section wouldn't hurt either. GoingBatty (talk) 04:45, 4 March 2010 (UTC)
- Does it even belong in his bio? Is Caruso connected to it? Is this significant in his life? Because the bio is supposed to be about his life right, not about what someone else did to get publicity off of his name. Niteshift36 (talk) 04:52, 4 March 2010 (UTC)
- I agree, it is pretty clear that the consensus is that this is self-promotion that doesn't belong on this article. If the person adding this material keeps going against consensus by edit warring I'll be forced to stop him myself. If you are reading this User:Dinamelo please talk on here and don't revert or I will block you as a single-purpose self-promoting account. You have apparently be warned about this several times.--Jersey Devil (talk) 22:15, 27 March 2010 (UTC)
- Can't say I didn't give him a chance. He's continued to engage in this disruptive behavior and it is pretty clear that the account is a self-promotion SPA so I've just indef blocked him.--Jersey Devil (talk) 21:31, 31 March 2010 (UTC)
The section was entirely unsourced and contained negative content and original research. I've removed it per WP:BLP and WP:RS. As consensus from this page is that the information should not be included, anyone wishing to add the information needs to discuss why it should be included here and gain consensus to do so prior to adding any of the information back in to article space. --Jezebel'sPonyobons mots 16:28, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
- At this point, does consensus even matter? As long as the main IP address involved in this edit war has access to the site, he'll continue to vandalize the main article, and all we can do is revert his edits. I think we need to bring this to the admins' attention.Theorycreation: Create Truth to Destroy the Lies (talk) 01:08, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
- I notice that you reverted the IP's last edit but didn't leave any follow-up message on his talk page. It is helpful when making a case for a block through WP:AIV if the IP has had at least a couple of warnings (including a final warning) in advance of blocking them. --Jezebel'sPonyobons mots 15:40, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
Parents
editI am a cousin of his. Both parents are deceased. His mother Joan was born on January 5, 1915 and died on December 3, 2003. She was of Irish ethnicity. His father Charles was born on December 19, 1926 and died on August 2, 2006. He was of Irish and Italian ethnicity.
His maternal grandparents were named Helen and Peter Burke. Helen died in 1928 and Peter died in 1960. His paternal grandparents were named Louis and Susan Caruso. Susan died in 1952 and Louis died on September 31, 1960. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.113.205.80 (talk) 01:49, 7 February 2011 (UTC)
- The information you are asserting is unsourced, and if true, is original research. Ultimately the excessive genealogocal information is superfluous and does not add anything substantial to the article. --Jezebel'sPonyobons mots 02:42, 7 February 2011 (UTC)

Heidemarie Schnitzer, 42, was sentenced at the main court of Innsbruck yesterday (Tues) for sending around 120 harrowing letters to the "CSI: Miami" star. Judge Günther Böhler ruled Schnitzer would be relocated to an institution for mentally-deranged delinquents after having served her sentence.
Three years ago, Schnitzer wrote to David Caruso: "I’m going to kill you and your butt-ugly Latina whore (…) that fat-assed bimbo."

Retirement
editCan anyone verify that he is retired? Because someone keeps putting his "years active" from 1975-2012. I have seen some actors/actress pages that they haven't been in a movie or TV show in a while and their years active has for example 1966-present. Blackhawksfan1445 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 04:23, 2 September 2019 (UTC)
80 movies a week, really?
editThe source for that claim is not available online, but this strains credulity just due to basic math. A movie theater is not open 24 hours a day even if Caruso didn't need sleep and were somehow working massive overtime. Maybe he said 80 per month? I worked as an usher years ago and that's closer to possible although it's still a lot (and most theaters are not playing that many movies, although I guess he could be including watching the same ones over and over).
