Infobox

edit

Warning. It appears that Pjacobi is still continuing a mass delete of these infoboxes. Doing this in the middle of a TfD discussion is somewhat underhanded...this is because removal of the template removes the TfD announcement tag from those pages. This therefore undermines the TfD process, and hides it from those editors who did not see the pages earlier. It is tantamount to deleting the TfD tag. bunix 13:35, 12 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

If you don't like the infobox because you feel it is duplicative, read the discussion at Wikipedia:Templates for deletion#Template:Infobox Scientist. After a decision on that issue, there may be no infobox for scientists, or we can discuss its use on this page. Bejnar 15:35, 12 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • What you seem to be missing is that there is nothing that requires that infoboxes by in articles.--Peta 01:17, 13 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
  • I agree that nothing requires the use of infoboxes. However, I don't think that you deplore the use of useful infoboxes? or do you? Anyway, when an editor delete an infobox such as the one in the article David Gottlieb, he/she should be sure that all of the appropriate information is available in the article, and then add in any that would be lost with the deletion. In the case of David Gottlieb, it is interesting for those of us interested in the History of science to trace student-professor relationships and mentor-mentee relationships. The infobox contained the datum that Fu-Kuen Lin was a student of Dr. Gottlieb, that information was not otherwise in the article. I have restored the infobox.
