Too many countries!

edit

hey guys, the tables in this discography contain far too many countries. the general guideline set out the featured lists is a maximum of 10 countries. currently the albums table has 14 and the singles table has 16. i suggest cutting them down to (in alpha order, with home country at the front) FRA, AUS, BEL, GER, IRE, ITA, NL, NL, SWE and UK. what does anybody else think? Mister sparky (talk) 21:39, 29 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

after more research about actual chartings, revised countries list: FRA, AUT, BEL, GER, IRE, NL, SWE, SWI, UK, EU Mister sparky (talk) 23:36, 12 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
What about the U.S. and AUS?--124.180.6.36 (talk) 10:28, 15 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
was going to have Australia but only 3 of his singles have charted there, the other countries have had more. same with the US, only 2 songs have charted there. Mister sparky (talk) 15:17, 15 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
Notice that the highest singles positions (overall) are in Russia - three #2s and three more top 10. No other national charts represent such a success, and taking into accont the size of the audiences, possibly Austria or Ireland should make way? 94.29.52.201 (talk) 16:50, 18 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
didnt include russia because of the reliable sourcing problem. its not listed at WP:GOODCHARTS, the only mentioned is the airplay chart, which is just the most popular songs of the radio dj's, its not a sales chart which represents what the general public like and buy. Mister sparky (talk) 18:14, 18 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
The United States is the biggest music market in the world, and now that he has a top twenty hit on the Hot 100 I think it's pretty ridiculous to exclude his U.S. peaks. Roller Co-star (talk) 04:49, 4 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
its not ridiculous when only 3 songs have charted there. many more songs have charted in other countries. why have a column in the table thats mostly blank. just a waste of space. Mister sparky (talk) 15:52, 23 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
I've gone ahead and removed Canada because it is not a significant market for dance music and also belgium for the same reason. Countries needed to be removed to comply with MOS:DISCOG Lil-unique1 (talk) 00:08, 4 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
Now unless my maths is off we have 9 charts. US Hot Dance, EU Hot 100 or something like that would serve as a good tenth chart. -- Lil_℧niquℇ №1 (talk2me) 01:26, 19 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
one US chart is enough. the Dutch Top 40 would be a good tenth, he's had lots of entries [1] Mister sparky (talk) 01:34, 19 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
Agree generally. Though I would have thought that one of the genre charts e.g. US Hot Dance Club Play would have been imporrtant because he is a dance artist and it would provide context as to how successful he is (or isn't). -- Lil_℧niquℇ №1 (talk2me) 01:44, 19 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
if he was american then yes, but he's french no no reason to add the US dance chart. Mister sparky (talk) 13:32, 19 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
Sweden should have precidence over spain! And only 10 countries! AtomicMarcusKitten (talk) 22:40, 30 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

there are 11 columns in the albums table

edit

One of these will have to go and a consensus needs to be reached beforehand. Additionally, the swapping out of SWE for SPA needs to be discussed first, we can't be changing countries constantly without mentioning it here first. - eo (talk) 22:39, 30 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

IMO AUT should go. -- Lil_℧niquℇ №1 (talk2me) 22:40, 30 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
OK, looks like US was just removed [2]... are people ok with that? If not, US should be placed back in (and not as the first column, as it was before). - eo (talk) 22:52, 30 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
Above I argued for the inclusion of US because of the following reasons: 1. David Guetta is one of the most successful dance acts in the world therefore his progress in the US is essential to demonstrating the nature of the US market, 2. The US is the biggest music market in the world. To omit the US in light of much smaller countries like AUT is a little out of proportion. -- Lil_℧niquℇ №1 | talk2me 22:58, 30 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

While providing more information such as certifications and sources for peaks, I initially took Belgium out, but looking at Guetta's Belgian charting, I realized that Belgium should remain in the tables; therefore, I removed Ireland and placed Belgium back. Besides, Ireland was the smallest market of all and Guetta doesn't seem to have charted there any better than he has in other smaller European markets such as Austria and Switzerland. As for the US market, while I realize that US positions do not look appealing enough, it would be wrong to exclude the peaks of the largest market in the world. --Harout72 (talk) 01:20, 6 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Where is the US?

edit

I can´t see any USA-Rankings in this list. Why isn´t there? For example "Sexy Bitch" were on place 5 at the Billboard Hot 100. --Maurice

US position for "Who's That Chick"

edit

We've had number of anonymous IPs persistently inserting No.73 for "Who's That Chick" for US Hot 100. That position cannot be verified through the source currently provided. The position cannot even be found in the list of singles posted at Allmusic. Please stop inserting any positions which cannot be found in the sourced provided, and for any others provide sources. Thank you.--Harout72 (talk) 16:50, 22 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

I want to add this song

edit

I want to add this song at discography of Guetta: Without you (ft. Rosie Rogers) But I can't do it, because the page is protected by "un gilipoyas" [spanish form of say 'person which protected this page'] Anything person can add this song in the page? --Dani 1270 (talk) 01:58, 12 June 2011 (UTC) [Sorry for my bad english]Reply

source that it was released as a single? if it's just a random album track then it doesn't belong here. Mister sparky (talk) 11:06, 12 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

I don't know. But I added his collaboration with Robert Owens "Up & Away" AnkitMenon666 (talk) 02:57, 23 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

Certifications for New Zealand

edit

We've recently had numerous insertions of New Zealand's certifications. NZ's certifications should be left out as we don't have the peak-positions for New Zealand. See Wikipedia:WikiProject Discographies/style#Per-release (Bullet 8), it clearly states: Certifications of shipments or sales by recording industry associations. Certifications for countries whose peaks are not shown should also be left out of the per-release listing.--Harout72 (talk) 21:57, 14 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

US singles positions

edit

We've had numerous editors inserting US position for "Where Them Girls At". Please bear in mind that all positions must be verifiable. Remember Wikipedia:Verifiability states: The threshold for inclusion in Wikipedia is verifiability, not truth—whether readers can check that material in Wikipedia has already been published by a reliable source, not whether editors think it is true. That said, neither Billboard nor Allmusic contain any US positions for David Guetta's "Where Them Girls At". Please remember to provide source(s) when adding peaks that cannot be found in sources that are already provided. Otherwise, all insertions of unsourced and unsupported positions will constitute Wikipedia:Disruptive editing.--Harout72 (talk) 19:07, 23 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

That's a Calvin Harris song, not Guetta's. Decodet (talk) 00:21, 19 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Single sales

edit

David Guetta has sold more than 17 million singles so far.

Source: Viva Top 100, show of September 09, 2011

Please add! --79.199.48.207 (talk) 14:11, 10 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Based on David Guetta's available certified sales (10.2 million certified singles), his actual singles sales may be around 15 million. And I'm not sure if Viva Top 100 Show could be considered as a reliable source. By the way, where is the link to the source?--Harout72 (talk) 21:59, 16 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

And? Should he be having sold more or less by your impression? --79.199.18.42 (talk) 21:27, 16 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned references in David Guetta discography

edit

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of David Guetta discography's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 03:11, 29 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

VS is informal

edit

"vs." is an informal term used to describe collaborations. It shouldn't be used on Wiki, which only recognizes "with", "and" and "featuring" as the collaboration terms. "vs. Bruno Mars" should be "with Bruno Mars". - TheMagnificentist 13:30, 23 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
