editDo we need to get into the "professor of Zionism" thing? Is that maybe giving the kooks out there too much ink? I also think that for any professor of neuroscience, the threat of violence is very real, what with the animal-rights people running around. Scooge (talk) 08:31, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
"Controversies" section
editI just did some work to clean up and otherwise improve the article. As part of this, I deleted the "Controversies" section; this article is a biography of a living person, and thus must be especially careful that all negative information is properly sourced and verified. The reason for this is to prevent real-world harm to a person's reputation due to false or distorted information in their biography. So, it is best to err towards caution when dealing with negative information of this sort.
Specifically, the first controversy (regarding the "professor of Zionism") seemed to be—at first glance, from my perspective—to be a rather angry rant by someone with a grudge against Linden. Unless we can find some reliable, independent sources documenting this, it should not be in the article. As for the "creationist death threats" incident, it seems to have only been mentioned in a brief comment by Linden himself and doesn't seem worth discussing as a "controversy" to me.
Any disagreement about my removal of this section? Pyrospirit (talk · contribs) 00:42, 15 June 2008 (UTC)
I thought the rant was interesting (which was why I put the link in there in the first place), but I won't object too much to its being taken out. It really said more about the ranter than about the rant-ee (Linden). Alexbook (talk) 20:54, 15 June 2008 (UTC)
"Needs more references"?
editI thought there were a decent number of 'em. Though I'm still having trouble with the formatting of 'em. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Scooge (talk • contribs) 08:42, 18 June 2008 (UTC)
References/Photo
editI need to resize the photo of Linden I wanted to use on this page--mostly because I took it, so I know for sure I can release the copyright and it'll be kosher to use. I've also been told that there is a copy of a pic on his book that is considered public domain. The advantage to that is that mine is a teensy bit blurry--though it might not look so bad brought down to 3x2 or whatever.
What I can't seem to do is get iPhoto to re-size the pic I downloaded so that it's a nice, reasonable wallet-size normal-looking photo.
Also, I have a new reference list I need to fold into the copy, so we should be able to beef those up once my computer stops having tantrums whenever I run MS Word.Scooge (talk) 07:56, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
