Doctoral Advisor

The obituary says it was Christopher Strachey. The Wikidata item links to both Strachey and also to Dana Scott, citing the mathematics geneology project. Does anyone have any sources for this? AndyGordon (talk) 16:10, 26 November 2023 (UTC)

The secondary sources I could find are:

- https://www.cs.kent.ac.uk/people/staff/dat/miranda/genealogy.html which references both Strachey and Scott as his thesis advisors. This is from David Turner's own homepage.

Well, the preface of his dissertation thanks both but does not explicitly say that either is his supervisor. Still, his own website does credit both very clearly, as does the maths genealogy project. Overall, I think we judge these sufficient reliable sources. the Strachey 100 doc is super interesting (wish I'd been there) but only mentions Strachey as advisor, and we have that fact already from Guardian obit so no need to cite.
