He is signifigant for his discoveries of hominid fossils. The Canadian encylopedia mentions him. Many books on the subject matter note him.

Wrong details

edit

The article suggests, that Black was one of the main excavators, but he first joined the project after having heard of the first two teeth ([1]), and what he at first did, was just naming what others had discovered. --De.Gerbil (talk) 18:12, 16 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Davidson regnal number

edit

Whilst looking for information on Davidson's children to provide an update, I saw that Davidson's children has regnal numbering (see page 10 and 24 for some examples from https://discoverarchives.library.utoronto.ca/downloads/black-davidson-family-fonds.pdf). Should he and his namesake sons be given their subsequent numbering or is it not needed?

Was he Chairman of the Geological Survey of China?

edit

The lead section made the statement w/o a citation. By reading his obituary, it seemed that he established the Cenozoic Research Laboratory at the Geological Survey of China, but the chief executive of the Survey was Dr. Wong. Is there proof that he was promoted to chairman later? Considering the nationalism of China at that time, it seemed unlikely to name a foreigner to lead a government agency, no matter how good he was. Happyseeu (talk) 06:43, 22 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
