• 5/30/1873 NY Herald, col 5 ad for Crockett at Woods starting June 2, 1873 [4]; 6/2/1873 NY Herald col 5 ad for debut [5]; 6/3/1873 NY Herald col 3 mention of debut [6]; June 5 1873 DC paper says Mayo's rifle was given to him by Custer, taken from an Indian, col 6 [7]; 6/14/1874 NY Herald col 5 - ad for last performances that day [8]
• Many sources confuse when the play was first performed. Certainly we can confirm performances in 1872. But some sources, e.g, [9] claim it was first performed in Rochester in 1873, which is wrong but must have been the understanding for some time.
• 1917 show which performed part of the play (among other old plays) [10]
