Remove unencyclopedic tag

edit

Is it time to remove the unencyclopedic tag? Eight years seems like a long time, and the article doesn't seem to warrant it anymore? I haven't gone through all of the history. If anyone has an opinion on it, please state so, here. Otherwise, I will consider removing the tag.

New version

edit

Version 4.5 seems to be available on official website. Could someone update the wiki page with release date and such? I cannot find this information. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.136.38.140 (talk) 15:25, 24 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Animation Support

edit

I was thinking that we perhaps need a section on animation support in DAZ|Studio. I haven't used animation in either DAZ|Studio or Poser but have heard that it is inferior to Poser at the moment --Aclapton 07:46, 25 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Neither have I used it. So try to find out if your assumption is right, and then try to create an unbiased text to add. --Pmkpmk 09:22, 25 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
I won't be able to do it right away, but I will see what I can come up with. --Aclapton 13:16, 25 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Forgive me if I have formatted this wrong or in the wrong spot. I have been trying to add this link *Free 3D Human DazStudio/Poser Figure:Apollo Maximus to the page. I have checked the terms of use and it seems fine. This site is relevant and not commercial in any way. It does seem that it keeps getting removed without discussion. My attempt to re add it, and not being entirely familiar with this site's very complicated communication process has lead me here. It seems because the link keeps getting removed daily, and thus I re-add it I have received a spamming message. not sure what that is about. But in the hopes of resolving this. This is a figure software package. This free figure is directly for this figure software and non-commercial. It is also a highly advanced level of content far beyond what ships with the software and of use to it's users.

I really have no idea how to respond here or where to look for replies so I will provide email.

I was refered to this discussion page by a wiki representative by email.

I would like to know why other site links are permiited in the community section but 12 attempts to place this one have been removed, not counting attempts by others?

There are other links listed in the section below the page that are allowed to remain. Yet mine is ebing removed on a daily basis. If this is an issue then I seek arbitration. Anton Kisiel —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.241.209.123 (talk) 07:50, 30 March 2007 (UTC).Reply

Please stop posting this link. Doing so contravenes our external link guidelines which, among other things, request that owners of a website do not post their own links directly to article pages. This link is unsuitable because it does not provide encyclopedic information about DAZ Studio. Wikipedia is not a portal or place to list resources. Links that provide encyclopedic information about DAZ Studios may be appropriate. Using Wikipedia to promote your own work is considered spamming. Links that are persistently spammed may be added to our spam blacklist. Thanks -- Siobhan Hansa 12:57, 2 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

I do not agree with User:SiobhanHansa. The article should include discussion of available models that can be used in DAZ Studio. The "Apollo Maximus" set of models should probably be first on the list of models discussed. Until that content is added to the article, there would be nothing wrong with just linking to the website for the "Apollo Maximus" models. --JWSchmidt 20:33, 20 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

New Interface Screenshot

edit

The old screenshot is a bit out of date when you consider the new UI of 1.7.1.5, so I put up a new one with the new UI. I'm not 100% satisfied with it , so feel free to replace it or revert it. --Aclapton 14:26, 19 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

I was wondering , should I add an external link to 3Delight, the renderer used in DAZ Studio, or is the link to the Wiki page adequate? I would just do it, but for the stern warning about external links in the page source --Aclapton 23:33, 8 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

I would go along with a link to the wikipage in preference to an external link: 3Delight has appropriate links on it. Geoff Riley 23:51, 8 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:DAZ Studio 1715 screenshot.png

edit

Image:DAZ Studio 1715 screenshot.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Propietary Vs. Free

edit

I was just wondering, if DAZ|Studio had one of those goofy trial periods, or does it really have an unlimited free trial? 66.168.19.135 (talk) —Preceding undated comment was added at 15:02, 7 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

It is free proprietary software. The basic program is free, although you need to register it. Most of the plugins require payment. Aclapton (talk) 15:24, 28 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Conflict of interest

edit

Someone tagged this page as having a conflict of interest, possibly by me as I am currently one of the 2 major contributors. Now while I agree that the page is currently poorly sourced and may even contain original research, I have to disagree with the conflict of interest. My only contact with DAZ3D is having spent too much money there. Discuss. Aclapton (talk) 15:30, 31 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

I cannot detect any particular conflict of interest; however, I too have spent far too much money at DAZ3D, so perhaps I'm biased too?? The IP user, 209.131.62.113 (talk · contribs · WHOIS), who placed this CO tag also placed the same tag on the Poser article at the same time; but I don't think it's intended maliciously since (s)he is a regular contributor, albeit anonymously. --Geoff Riley (talk) 13:19, 1 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Why is most of article deleted?

edit

I'm amazed that the DAZ Studio article is so short in Wikipedia, though DAZ has a huge presence in the internet. I Googled DAZ Studio on March 24, 2016 and the result was "About 393,000 results". It looks like someone erased most of the article here.

Filament PBR Rendering Engine added

edit

I see absolutely no mention in this article, nor an article of its own, for the addition of Google's Filament PBR Rendering Engine: https://github.com/google/filament

This article does feel far too short, and seems to be lacking very important information about the topic.

(also, why does the captcha run 2 words together then get mad at us if we SEPARATE them into 2 real words???) 199.115.135.85 (talk) 22:18, 22 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
