Assessment
editI can see why there are notability concerns. Could be an AfD candidate. Stub for lack of overall information. Low importance, has little notability per tag and comments. Twenty Years 02:47, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
- To me it seems clearly a deletion candidate. The only vague assertion of notability is one pupil who became notable later; but what does that tell us about the school? I will add a PROD tag. If someone disagrees, please remove it (we can then seek the wider discussion on AfD). --B. Wolterding 17:16, 8 September 2007 (UTC)
- The concerns were clearly well merited. However, the article has now been completely rewritten and considerably expanded. One of a handful of state boarding schools, long history, and containing a listed building makes it worth 'medium' importance. TerriersFan 22:52, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
Improved article
editThe improved article shows it is clearly notable, and now will certainly pass the afd discussion. But I think some material was overenthusiastically added: That it ranks merely "good" (2 of a 4 point scale) does not strike me as worth a paragraph and a long quote. - I agree that most of the OFSTED material is probably unnecessary, especially as we now have links to OFSTED reports in all the UK infoboxes. This article really needs a lot more content about the history of the school. There is a published school history which should be an ideal source if anyone is prepared to take on the challenge. Some details about the boarding facilities would also be interesting. There are only around 35 state boarding schools in England. Dahliarose 10:28, 15 September 2007 (UTC)
- Since I put it in I guess I should defend it :-) It is not good practice to rely on external links - the reader should be able to find the important information within the article and the references are there for verifiability and further reading. I don't think that the Ofsted extract is excessive - anyone interested in the school will be interested in this. The fact that the school is only graded Good is not relevant; it is encyclopaedic material and even if the school was rated 4 it should still be in. The answer is not to trim it but to expand the rest of the article so that it doesn't look quite so prominent! TerriersFan 10:48, 15 September 2007 (UTC)
