- I'm fairly confident this should be merged into dead man's switch - the concept is fundamentally the same, it's just an alternative name for a specific usage of it. The DMS article includes a number of "fail harmful" examples referred to as DMSes, and indeed also contains a note of "Alternative names: Replacement of "switch" with "control" or name denoting a specific type of switch, e.g., "button"/"trigger"/"pedal"/"handle"/"brake"".
