Talk:Dead or Alive Xtreme 3

Has the cover art to be part of the article or tooltip/hover preview?

edit

Given this game's contents and the controversy it caused, should the first cover (atleast) be shown in plain sight in the article and especially the tooltip/hover preview? I think the first cover's "staging" is quite icky/problematic/inappropriate if not worse, given that the character on the left is supposed 14-ish years old as far as I know. I have no knowledge of legal matters in regards to encyclopedia articles, etc. to tell if this content is justified, therefore it should the best for some sort of moderator/experienced user to look into this.

Controversy

edit

Should there be a section dedicated to its controversy? I feel like remnants of controversy are scattered throughout the article and should instead be centralized. Heartwarming (talk) 00:46, 26 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

If you're referring to the cancellation due to concerns over sexism, then definitely. There's certainly no lack of news reports about it.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8] It's a bit unclear what's what yet, though.

Since this is the second article in which the matter has been raised. Would it not be better to merge the concerns into a section on the main franchise page? Just a suggestion. LCrowter (talk) 13:18, 10 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
The franchise as a whole has received similar criticism regarding portrayal of women. This issue relates specifically to DoA Extreme 3, though.
Peter Isotalo 18:24, 10 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
I think this game specifically has had a unique controversy separate from general feminist criticism that follows the franchise as a whole. Yet Another Nobody (talk) 18:48, 10 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Pls open it to edits

edit

The release date is approaching and the article still looks like crap with practically no edits for weeks. --94.246.144.29 (talk) 10:18, 17 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

The game was released and you still didn't.--94.246.144.29 (talk) 10:37, 25 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Censorship

edit

Removed the line stating that Shuhei Yoshida's statement that they would not be releasing in the West due to cultural differences "confirmed fears of censorship", as no censorship by any clear definition of the word is involved. The Big F (talk) 09:19, 28 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Mexican release ?

edit

When the game has been released in Mexico because it's say the game has been released in this country. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MrSushi95 (talkcontribs) 17:34, 21 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

It was wrong so I removed it. Supergodzilla2090 (talk) 18:06, 21 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Venus Vacation isn't a Windows port and it's not a web browser game

edit

It's a mobile gacha (constantly updated) that uses PC instead. Volleyball games aren't directly controlled too (like they are in the original game). Japanese wiki doesn't mention VV as a port because it quite rightfully isn't. Everything about VV should be removed from this article. 37.19.110.142 (talk) 09:51, 21 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

This. Why hasn't this been changed? Venus Vacation is NOT Extreme 3, so all the release platforms are wrong. Extreme 3 ONLY released on PS4.
As mentioned above, everything related to Venus Vacation should be removed. 24.203.203.250 (talk) 21:56, 26 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
I removed all mentions of Venus Vacation and nonsense about it somehow being a different version of Xtreme 3. It's an entirely separate game that warrants its own article. Claims that it is just a "PC downloadable version" of Xtreme 3 are just outright false. 24.230.161.142 (talk) 15:29, 18 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Dead or Alive Xtreme Venus Vacation popularity?

edit

Should the article mention Venus Vacation's popularity, as it is quite popular, with an average of 6,000 players in a 24-hour peak? — Preceding unsigned comment added by JYmasktape (talkcontribs) 15:10, 26 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Separating Page between DOAXVV & DOAX3

edit

Let's make decisions, whether DOAXVV needs a separate page or still merge with DOAX3. 188.120.119.246 suggested for separate DOAXVV page to distinct its gameplay from DOAX3, & also like in Wikipedia. Also, I saved the recent previous revision of DOAXVV page that removes redirect page to DOAX3 & must wait until decision for separate page is decided. RexWill01 (talk) 05:53, 23 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

It's different games really. One is a console game that stopped receiving any updates/characters a long time ago. Other is a gacha that keeps getting new characters, swimsuits, possibly new gameplay mechanics as long as it is profitable. Just like any gacha out there. Japanese Venus Vacation wiki page is located here.
Even the PSP port of DOAX2 titled Dead or Alive Paradise has its own page instead of it being a part of Xtreme 2 article. 188.120.100.181 (talk) 18:42, 24 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
& I may need help to find suitable reception report besides from Steam page reviews on both Asian & JP versions. RexWill01 (talk) 10:41, 25 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Support — Early on, Venus Vacation seemed like just a port of Xtreme 3 but after 5+ years of continuous updates they are completely different games now. Therefore, I support the decision to split the articles. Feel free to copy any sources from the eswiki article I wrote last year @RexWill01 to the enwiki page. Why haven't you voted to keep the article you created? If you want it to stay you should explicitly state it like I did here. Jotamide (talk) 21:28, 30 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
There's a vote? RexWill01 (talk) 14:56, 3 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
The final decision was to merge the DOAXVV article back into DOAX3. If you can, please assist with the merger since one editor is set on deleting the article without moving information back without properly completing the merger. I already did enough work and won't be editing either article for the foreseeable future. Jotamide (talk) 23:37, 17 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
How bout separate sections on a same page? Somehow, it makes me think both Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate & Last Round should be merged akin to Guilty Gear XX updates page, & given that they are actually a same game that is standalone from original release. RexWill01 (talk) 16:57, 19 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
I also support Venus Vacation remaining its own page as opposed to being merged into the Xtreme 3 page. Reasons being that the games (Xtreme 3 and Venus Vacation) are functionally distinct in-terms of how they are played and in-terms of their monetization strategies, creating distinct gameplay loops (one being a gacha game and other being a traditional beach simulator). In addition, VV has notably different modes X3 does not, new characters, and visual novel sequences. The speculative motivation behind merging these pages seems to be based on the two games both being made in the same engine and both centering around beach simulations featuring the Dead or Alive cast, but that's about where the similarities end. Merging these pages would be a mistake as they refer to distinctly different products. A080 (talk) 09:51, 29 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yet, needs further sources & short typos, as well. RexWill01 (talk) 12:48, 31 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
You certainly have added typos from what I can read. Jotamide (talk) 20:02, 29 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Xtreme 3 Page's roster needs to be replaced with tables (row & column) which one appeared in specific versions between X3 and XVV Sub-Series, while keeping poll results RexWill01 (talk) 11:42, 1 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
