Death of Valeriu Boboc → Valeriu Boboc – the article is not only about his death. A person decorated by the highest order of a state is most certainly notable. Logofat de Chichirez (talk) 18:35, 6 February 2012 (UTC)
- I've looked into the Valeriu Boboc article history and noticed that it was IMO improperly redirected a while ago. Logofat de Chichirez (talk) 18:59, 6 February 2012 (UTC)
- See this AFD discussion. And yes, these articles should be merged since he is still notable only for his death. --illythr (talk) 19:21, 6 February 2012 (UTC)
- This discussion was 2 years ago. Yes I saw it. Please see my note User talk:Anonimu#Valeriu Boboc. IMO he is not notable only for his death. Ţâbuleac is notable only for his death. Boboc is notable for his death AND political games (as I see it) with his death. Logofat de Chichirez (talk) 20:34, 6 February 2012 (UTC)
- I was referring to your "improperly redirected" there. Back in 2009, these political games were only brewing and the usual way to deal with people who become known only by the circumstances of their death is the creation of a section in the article about the main event which caused their death, which was done as the result of that AFD. Today, I'd say all this politicking does grant him stand-alone notability, but I don't think it warrants two separate articles. --illythr (talk) 22:40, 6 February 2012 (UTC)
- Uh, I just realized I was ambiguous there. By "should be merged", I meant merge the article about the death with with the article about the person. --illythr (talk) 22:44, 6 February 2012 (UTC)

- Oppose the award was given to him posthumously for dying at the protest, so the event that this article is written about, his death, is also why he was recognized, so it is still a 1E notable person. 70.24.247.54 (talk) 09:07, 11 February 2012 (UTC)
Valeriu Boboc, a person awarded with Moldova's highest state award – the Order of the Republic –, is obviously a notable person.
Valeriu Boboc Prize – named after him and awarded annually by the Senate of Romania – is also a notable topic.
Above all, Death of Valeriu Boboc is a landmark case concerning the human rights in Moldova. Iunanista (talk) 16:03, 11 February 2012 (UTC)
- Boboc is a completely random victim of police abuse in Moldova. Neither his personality nor biography have anything to do with him getting arrested and killed and never get more than a sentence or so in most sources. Still, an article about him is certainly in order now, since he's apparently becoming a Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya of modern Moldova. --illythr (talk) 00:41, 12 February 2012 (UTC)

Merge Valeriu Boboc into Death of Valeriu Boboc
edit- The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section. A summary of the conclusions reached follows.
- Merge Valeriu Boboc into Death of Valeriu Boboc
- All information of the article Valeriu Boboc are already in the article Death of Valeriu Boboc.
- According to "2009 Human Rights Report" of the United States Department of State, "A British forensics expert examined Boboc's body after it was exhumed on June 15 and concluded that Boboc was killed by severe blows to his head, which provoked a "diffuse injury of the brain" shortly before his death." "Foreign and national experts determined the death was as a result of injuries caused to Valeriu Boboc and not caused by an unknown, poisoning gas, as was said immediately after the tragedy," said the Prosecutor General. Established after his death, Valeriu Boboc Prize is awarded annually by the Senate of Romania for "defending the fundamental human rights and democratic values".
- There are hundreds or, more likely, thousands of articles and sources related to his death. Death of Valeriu Boboc is a landmark case concerning the human rights in Moldova.
- All relevant information concerning this random protester who died in police custody refer to the Death of Valeriu Boboc. Iunanista (talk) 05:20, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
- "Death of..." is normally a branching article for a person, who is notable enough to have an article about them. In this case, this person is only notable due to events surrounding his death. This means, there should be one article about the incident instead. I can't think of an appropriate name for the incident, so I suppose the proposed merge will do. --illythr (talk) 14:06, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
There is an article about the person
This article needs to be revised or merged with the article about the person. GerardM (talk) 10:40, 12 July 2015 (UTC)
