T. K. Ramamurthy

edit

I have seen it 6 times spelled this way in the Indian papers this morning. Every single major Indian paper spells his name this way. However his article spells it T. K. Ramamoorthy. Which way is correct? The 6 papers I have seen or the way Wiki spells it? Even the references on the main article page spell it Ramamurthy. Sunnydoo (talk) 08:43, 17 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Same for P. B. Sreenivas. Papers called him "Srinivas". I think they created according to pronunciation. - Wyliepedia 19:39, 17 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Tamerlan Tsarnaev American or US Permanent Resident?

edit

Our Recent deaths page (date April 19, 2013) says Tamerlan Tsarnaev, the alleged perpetrator of the Boston marathon bombing is Russian-born American. However our report on Boston Marathon bombings actually says in the "Suspects" section "He was not a U.S. citizen, but was a permanent resident". Clearly this needs to be verified and the info here or in the mentioned bombings page needs to be corrected. werldwayd (talk) 08:35, 20 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Tsarnaev was granted US citizenship on 11 September 2012. WWGB (talk) 13:30, 20 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
That news article is in error. See the Wikipedia article about him (via this link: Tamerlan Tsarnaev) for extensive discussion on this point. The confusion in the news article was because his brother did become a U.S. citizen. -- John Broughton (♫♫) 04:58, 22 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Allan Arbus died on the 19th not the 23rd

edit

According to his article Allan Arbus died on the 19th.

Somebody placed on the 23rd and I removed it.

Allan Arbus (February 15, 1918 – April 19, 2013) was an American actor notable for his role as psychiatrist Dr. Sidney Freedman on the television series M*A*S*H. Jroehl (talk) 21:23, 23 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Tamerlan Tsarnaev cause of death

edit

Most news media reports are saying that although he was shot, he died because he was run over although I haven't heard whether he was run over and killed by his brother trying to escape or the cops in pursuit. The cause of death on this list ought to be changed to reflect that he didn't die from the GSWs.--ColonelHenry (talk) 00:39, 25 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Coroner's report makes it official- gunshot and blunt force trauma are listed as the primary CoDs. Page has been updated with link to report. Thanks. http://www.wbtv.com/story/22155287/boston-bomber-died-of-gunshot-wounds-blunt-trauma Sunnydoo (talk) 04:18, 4 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Earl Cossey (April 23rd)

edit

Just in case anyone has a problem with it besides WWGB. This is what I posted on WWGB's page after he told me the guy was not notable.

Besides being one of the crimes of the century in the US and an extensive page dedicated to D B Cooper (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/D_b_cooper), there is also a wiki page dedicated to all of the pop culture references- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/D._B._Cooper_in_popular_culture. Anyone tied to the case is notable from the flight crew, to the family, the suspects and to the gentlemen I tabbed. He kept having recurring visits from the FBI as they tried to find the right parachute the guy used to jump. They actually did recover some of the money a few years ago, but the vast majority of it has disappeared. It doesnt seem like a lot of money now, but you could buy well over 100 cars with the money he got at the time. 200k would also have bought you 6 or 7 good size houses at the time too. Right up there with the Great Train Robbery in lore.Sunnydoo (talk) 10:45, 1 May 2013 (UTC)

And dont take my word for it-

Sunnydoo (talk) 10:58, 1 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

So Cossey packed Cooper's parachute. What is notable about that? Perhaps we should honour Cooper's barber as well? And BTW I did not "tell" you anything, I merely left an edit summary. WWGB (talk) 11:05, 1 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
Its notable because it was a key part of the crime and the FBI believed that it could eventually lead them to DB Cooper thru fingerprint analysis and later on DNA. Its one of the reasons the FBI kept coming back to the guy to see if they could get the right chute, which this gentleman had owned for a period of time and then sold it off used to the flight school DB Cooper stole it from. So he was always a key part of the crime. It is also one reason he got so mad at the FBI towards the end because they kept bothering him about it. #2- if you know who DB Cooper's barber was, you should probably phone the FBI for a share of the tip money, because he has never been identified and they would like to know who he was. #3 WP:Notability states Coverage must be significant (which i just demonstrated) and it also says that it doesnt have to be the main topic- which it may or may not be in this case...would be something if DB Cooper re-appeared and killed this fellow after all this time. All the sources are Reliable and independent. Dont see how you can exclude this as non-notable.Sunnydoo (talk) 11:15, 1 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
My money is on RAP doing a redlink cull on this one in one month. WWGB (talk) 11:19, 1 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
Thats fine. It may or may not lead to article inclusion. Either way the purpose is served by the awareness being raised on the page.Sunnydoo (talk) 11:30, 1 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
