As Munro isn't even mentioned in the article you would like to redirect to, I think it inappropriate to change the description as it exists. If you're redirecting to an article/section, the subject should at least get a credit by name there. In any case, our entries are seldom exactly spot on with regards to specific linking, but still manage to guide the reader towards the relevant information, nonetheless. Could you please change the age and source of Italian singer Umberto Marcato, who passed away on August 23? I know you have one source that states he was 88, but I have found a couple of others that says he was 94 years old. [1][2]95.203.37.22 (talk) 16:34, 24 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
It is not the practice here to display age ranges such as "88 or 94", as it suggests some kind of guesswork on the part of either Wikipedia editors (English or otherwise) or mistakes by source publication editors. Age ranges here are usually one year apart separated by ndash (i.e. "87–88" or "93–94"). As far as I can tell from past experience, if the two-year age range cannot be displayed, the age is not shown at all until matters become clearer. Ref(chew)(do)00:34, 25 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Regarding the age, the source is not discogs itself, but a liner note from one of his records. It's also one of few that reveals his full birth date, which does not seem to be available anywhere else online (which is unusal for such a big star). Although in this book, on page 357, the information is consistent with the liner note https://www.google.se/books/edition/La_balada/qzIUAQAAIAAJ?. It says the date of birth is January 5, 1930. hl=sv&gbpv=0&bsq=umberto%20marcato%201930. The preview is not allowed on Google though, so don't know if we can use it. Until the age is absolutely confirmed by a usable reliable source or sources, or can be narrowed down to a two-year range separated by ndash, nothing is likely to happen regarding an age being introduced into the entry line. Ref(chew)(do)23:50, 28 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
In your own words, "The preview is not allowed on Google though, so don't know if we can use it." Which makes it impossible for anyone to verify using the fairly strict standards on sources employed in this list. Google per se is not a reliable source, obviously. I would suggest that the only answer to this age conundrum being resolved lies in watching the relevant source articles for editorial changes to the ages they quote, one way or the other (88 or 94). Once some obvious mistakes by journos/editors have been corrected, we will get a better idea of the truth, and the real age at death may emerge. Thanks. Ref(chew)(do)21:55, 29 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Could you please add the age of Italian singer Umberto Marcato? According to this source he was born on January 5, 1930. I hope the source is acceptable by Wikipedia standards. Could you please also move him to his correct date of death on August 22? He is currently listed under August 23.[3], [4]217.213.147.164 (talk) 18:31, 28 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
I was about to make a comment on this, since in the article of his death they use as a source it puts his death age at 88. Is this source just wrong? Everything else seems to place his birth in 1930, which would put his death age at 94. Burnoutchicken (talk) 19:09, 28 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Two problems exist with this request regarding the subject's age. First, the requester did not bother to read this whole talk page, otherwise they would have realised that there is already an unresolved section open regarding this. Secondly, please never quote Discogs, as it is a Wiki and not a reliable independent source. The third part of this request can be carried out using the second source mentioned, and has been Done. However, please address further comments on this subject to the section above, as this one will be deleted in 24 hours time. Thanks. Ref(chew)(do)20:48, 28 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
