Thanks for fixing the reference.

Possible Song Titles

edit

Do we need a list of all of them? Especially if they're all unsourced? Robert Berkshire (talk) 22:01, 28 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

No. I removed them. Gendralman (talk) 00:19, 29 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

guest musicians

edit

pretty sure devin has mentioned a few other people will be contributing to this on his twitter but can't find the links? Mikael Akerfeldt, Greg Puciatto, Oderus Urungus — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hercules rockafella (talkcontribs) 16:13, 22 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

All we know is that a twitter user who may or may not be Devin has said things like "Thanks, Greg". This isn't a reliable source. We'll probably know these things when the label announces the guest musicians, or definitely when the album is released. Wyatt Riot (talk) 16:50, 22 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Townsend's official YouTube account[1] and posts by his account on his official forum[2] should be considered completely fine references. any information posted to this article from either source should be considered usable. this includes the titles i just posted and were removed (apparently without checking the authenticity of the references). - Seasonsinthesky (talk) 16:33, 9 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Not at all. WP:RS and WP:SPS clearly lay out what is and is not a reliable source, and neither his forum nor his YouTube account are considered reliable. Interviews with him, and articles about him (and the album) are acceptable, as is any information gleaned from album liner notes. Some of the information you added also appeared to be speculation ("appears to be", "may be" are key phrases that indicate what you are adding is speculation). You missed WP:ABOUTSELF—his accounts are not considered reliable for information on other subjects, but they are reliable for information on the projects he's making as long as the information is "not unduly self-serving". Those accounts can be used as a source on the album when necessary. —Gendralman (talk) 17:16, 20 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Move request: Deconstruction (Devin Townsend Project album)

edit

Can someone move this and the rest of the albums to album name (Devin Townsend Project album)? There's no definite article in the band name, just look at the artworks. -- 91.36.253.242 (talk) 10:55, 19 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

This appears to be the only album that doesn't include "The" in the title. Look at the cover artwork on Addicted and Ghost as well as his other "The Devin Townsend Band" albums. Wyatt Riot (talk) 12:05, 19 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, we can assume the band name is not changing from album to album. —Gendralman (talk) 17:17, 20 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
Hey, wait. That's interesting. I have all four DTP albums lying in front of me right now and it's definitely (and exclusively) "Devin Townsend Project" on each of them. Most of them are released by InsideOut Music, one by HevyDevy Records. Does anyone possess actual physical copies that have "The Devin Townsend Project" on them? -- 91.36.205.183 (talk) 17:21, 20 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
The cover art on the articles I linked above both show "The". I checked amazon.com and "The" is listed on the first two search results, although there are several alternate covers without it. On the official DT website, only Addicted is shown with cover art (that I could find, at least), and it has the version with "The". Wyatt Riot (talk) 17:40, 20 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
True; but still, the CDs that very HevyDevy store shipped say differently. You can also find different evidence on the website, for example in the press section: "Ki is the first of 4 albums in a series of albums under the moniker ‘Devin Townsend Project.’" So, regarding web sources the situation is not quite clear. Hence my question whether anyone has actual printed copies that read "The Devin Townsend Project" (and what record label released those). -- 91.36.205.183 (talk) 17:56, 20 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
No? -- 91.36.216.226 (talk) 21:59, 27 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
Noo? -- 91.36.201.47 (talk) 13:53, 4 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
Doesn't look like there's any consensus to move it. MrMoustacheMM (talk) 17:59, 4 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
You could be right. The reason I kept bugging you people is that I want to see/get confirmed there is even a single physical copy that has the "THE ..." title. -- 91.36.254.43 (talk) 18:17, 4 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
Why not help out with the research yourself by finding reliable secondary sources that mention this discrepancy, and bringing them up here? MrMoustacheMM (talk) 21:28, 4 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
