Would prefer for this to come out on January 24, when the strike is planned. No QPQ necessary
Created by Cambalachero (talk). Nominated by Mach61 (talk) at 03:58, 29 December 2023 (UTC). Post-promotion hook changes for this nom will be logged at Template talk:Did you know nominations/Decree 70/2023; consider watching this nomination, if it is successful, until the hook appears on the Main Page.
- The combination of hook and date does not sound quite neutral to me. I would prefer it to be promoted to a random date, as any DYK, and save the strike for a "In the news" nomination. Cambalachero (talk) 23:58, 29 December 2023 (UTC)
- I don't feel strongly about the date, but FWIW I don’t see anything in WP:DYKSO that proscribes this request. I mulled over an ITN nom, but concluded that it would be rejected for being too local. Cheers, Mach61 (talk) 05:50, 30 December 2023 (UTC)
- I can't remember if it's been explicitly mentioned in the rules, but there's somewhat of a consensus that hooks that "unduly promote a release" or something like that, especially if it's a special occasion date request, should be declined or revised. My hunch is that the special occasion is probably still possible, but not with the current hook. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 00:20, 31 December 2023 (UTC)
- OK, I relinquish the date request. Mach61 (talk) 01:41, 31 December 2023 (UTC)
- Mach61 is QPQ-exempt. The article is new enough and long enough. The orange tag must be resolved. If I did not know what this was about, I'd have yawned. I'd like to throw an ALT1 on the fire, but it requires Cambalachero and Mach61 to add some additional details to this article (see [1] [2]). The scope of this DNU is so massive that it is hook-worthy in and of itself: Sammi Brie (she/her • t • c) 20:56, 13 January 2024 (UTC)
- ... that Argentine president Javier Milei's "mega-decree" abolished rent control, reduced severance pay for workers, and removed broadcasting ownership limits?
- @Sammi Brie: Actually, I'd prefer to withdraw. Mach61 (talk) 22:17, 13 January 2024 (UTC)
- Marking for closure. Still suggesting the additions to the article though. Sammi Brie (she/her • t • c) 22:49, 13 January 2024 (UTC)

Proposed merge of 2024 general strike against Javier Milei into Decree 70/2023
editThe article does not have independent notability. It's a protest against a specific thing, the Decree 70/2023, and may be explained there. Cambalachero (talk) 13:50, 29 January 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose – The strike has independent notability and it received significant (national and international) media coverage as can be seen in the sources provided in the article. Compare other articles about protests in Argentina. 7szz (talk) 04:36, 7 February 2024 (UTC)
- There is notability, yes, but what makes you think there is independent notability, for a standalone article instead of a section in another? I may point that there was a demonstration after the terrorist attacks in Gaza, and it is mentioned within International reactions to the Israel–Hamas war, not in a standalone article.
