...coveted by Hogwarts' Potion master Severus Snape

Is it though ?, IIRC. Hagrid says about Lockhart that he (Lockhart) was the only applicant for the job, implying that Snape didn't want the job. --Imran 23:15 22 Jun 2003 (UTC)

It is indeed. In at least one place in the newest book, someone comments on Snape's constant attempts to become the Defence Against . . . teacher; Snapes acknowledges that he keeps trying, but refuses to posit on why he has never been chosen. Phil Bordelon 23:54 22 Jun 2003 (UTC)

Well, he really /is/ still associated with Voldemort, in the "undercover-member-of-the-Death-Eathers" sort of way. Not that I really care about the wording one way or the other. Phil Bordelon 00:30 24 Jun 2003 (UTC)

Dumbledore must not really want Snape to have the job, if he'd rather give it to Umbridge.
