Why this page?
editThis was a redirect to The Just War Theory. By that theory defensive wars are usually can be considered to be just but not if unjust means are used and not if they will lead to a futile loss of life. Offensive wars can be just in certain circumstaces - to prevent genocide for example. Hence defensive ware is not a sinonim for The Just War Theory.Dejvid 13:09, 21 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Some Ideas
editThe American Civil War, is an example. The south fought a defensive war. The American Revoulution, is another example, the Colonies fought defensively against the british.
- The CSA initiated the hostilities when they fired on Federal troops at Fort Sumter and in several instances invaded Northern states (Antietam,Gettysburg), so it was not a defensive war on the part of the South by any stretch of the imagination. Awotter (talk) 05:49, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
