Article moved
editI moved this article from it much longer official and descriptive title to its common name in accordance with Wikipedia naming conventions. see WP:PLACE. - Metal lunchbox (talk) 03:40, 3 May 2013 (UTC)
- Well, WP:NC-ZH#Administrative (or whatever the header title is) takes precedent, so you need to raise a discussion there. GotR Talk 03:48, 3 May 2013 (UTC)
- I'm a little confused. I don't seen anything there that says we need to use long official names for places. I do see a few notes about not disambiguating where no disambiguation is needed though. I also see a note that the name of the minority and the word "autonomous" should be excluded unless required for disambiguation. Unless that convention has something written it can't take precedence over established wikipedia policy as explained in WP:AT and elsewhere. I can't be forced to guess the intentions of whoever wrote that page. - Metal lunchbox (talk) 04:02, 3 May 2013 (UTC)
- In the table at WP:NC-ZH#Disambiguation of settlements and administrative units, which is titled rather inappropriately, the example given is Jilin's Yanbian Prefecture, along with Qinghai's Hainan Prefecture, both which very explicitly give a NAME + ETHNIC GROUP(S) + AUTONOMOUS + PREFECTURE formula. In any case, just leave it be and find something MUCH more productive to do – it simply isn't broken. GotR Talk 04:25, 3 May 2013 (UTC)
- Please respect that I have just as much a right to edit this page as you do. Telling me to go do something else is elitist and disrespectful. I made a good faith edit based on my understanding of some very clearly written and very well established Wikipedia policy. Citing an example from a naming convention page with no context or explanation and then acting as if that means you have the final word on the matter is insulting. This is not a way to settle a misunderstanding. - Metal lunchbox (talk) 05:08, 3 May 2013 (UTC)
