Demandatam is an encyclical
editThe "demandatam" is considered to be an encyclical, not a papal bull. The reasons are two: it is addressed only to Patriarch and bishops, and it is referred to as "enciclical" in official Vatican documents (for example in the Paul VI's "orientalium ecclesiarum" at note 2 [1]). It is acceptable to call it a apostolic constitution (in the 18th-century there was not a so strict distinction), that is a document that ranks almost as an encyclical, but not a papal bull that is a lower rank document.
