"letter wood"
editThe names comes from what means as "river of the letter wood". What's "letter wood"? This should be included.Curb Chain (talk) 21:34, 11 September 2011 (UTC)
Over nine years later and I'm still wondering the same thing. This definition raises more questions than it answers! The linked source additionally states "It is believed as stated above, that the Demerara River got its name from the letter wood which probably grew near to it." But I have no idea what "letter wood" is - a type of tree, perhaps? 67.8.203.16 (talk) 14:30, 9 March 2020 (UTC)

editHello fellow Wikipedians,
I have just added archive links to one external link on Demerara. Please take a moment to review my edit. You may add {{cbignore}}
after the link to keep me from modifying it, if I keep adding bad data, but formatting bugs should be reported instead. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}}
to keep me off the page altogether, but should be used as a last resort. I made the following changes:
- Attempted to fix sourcing for http://www.guyana.ro/guyana/name.php
When you have finished reviewing my changes, please set the checked parameter below to true or failed to let others know (documentation at {{Sourcecheck}}

Hello Wikipedians, Why is the "sports people" sub lemma here and not in the national Guyana lemma? Seems inappropriate. Please move to national Guyana lemma. Thanks. Also, the Demarara lemma is not taken up in the "Index of Guyana-related articles" Please do so? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.148.4.171 (talk) 18:30, 16 February 2019 (UTC)

Rampersaud vandalism?
editLooks to me like the two edits of 30 August 2023 (listing "Rampersaud, M" as a 1990s rebel) are potentially vandalism. I don't know the topic enough though, so I'm mentioning it here for someone with more knowledge to check out. Al Begamut (talk) 01:27, 8 December 2023 (UTC)
