- ... that Deng Shuping (pictured), younger brother of Deng Xiaoping, was classified as an “enlightened landlord”?
(Trans: Deng Shuping had four brothers: Deng Xiaoping (eldest), Deng Ken (second), and Deng Xianqing (youngest). Deng Shuping, being the eldest, was the heir to the family property and the pillar of the family's influence. In his hometown, Deng Shuping risked his life to secretly write letters of introduction to local patriotic youths, recommending them to Yan'an to find his elder brother, Deng Xiaoping, thus enabling many to join the revolution. After liberation, he was classified as a landlord, but because he did not extort rent, lend money at usurious rates, or commit murder and robbery, he was not implicated in the Anti-Rightist Campaign, the Anti-Rightist Campaign, or the Four Cleanups Movement. The government's conclusion regarding him was: of landlord birth, but an enlightened landlord. [The Tumultuous Life of Deng Xiaoping's Third Brother, Deng Shuping]. Overall:
@Toadboy123: Article was created on August 24 so it is new enough. The sources look adequate. QPQ is met. Mildly interesting hook for those who know Chinese history. My only big request is for you to add a line like "Deng was the younger brother of Deng Xiaoping and Deng Ken." to the Early Life section. Jon698 (talk) 05:17, 25 August 2026 (UTC)
