Translation

edit

I started the translation, but I was forced to quit for now and will finish it this week. --Blutkoete

I added two references from the original article, but the original article itself only contains two references (one for the population and one for the geography), the other two being about the youth civil parish (which I didn't include in the translation of the political part) and the fourth one being about a poem in the cultural section. I want to translate the economy and the cultural life part today, but I'll have to shorten it, as the cultural life part is very long and mentions every single choir there, which is probably not that interesting for the normal English reader. --Blutkoete (talk) 12:46, 25 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Denzlingen#Geography

edit

The article mentions the "Glotter". Upon looking at the satellite view on Google Earth, I see a river to the north of town that must be the Elz, but I can't tell exactly where the Glotter is. It matters because when I went to copyedit the section, it said the Glotter "runs through the south of town", which is unidiomatic and could be either "through the southern part of the town" (in the town) or "to the south of the town" (not in the town). Also, it mentions a "township". What township? --Milkbreath (talk) 17:48, 24 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hello! Thanks for correcting the section. I looked in Google Earth myself to provide some coordinates for you to find the Glotter easier, but you really can't find it if you don't know where it is - it is so small that you only see the line of trees next to it. It runs through the town (with the main road on the one side and houses on the other) and it is only two or three metres wide, so I should'nt have called it a "river". "brook", "creek" or "stream" might fit better, I'm not that good with terms for small rivers in English. --Blutkoete (talk) 12:25, 25 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
Addendum: I used "township" to distinuigsh between the settled areas and the unsettled areas (with "town" only refering to the settled ones and "township" to the whole), but that might be wrong in English. --Blutkoete (talk) 12:37, 25 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
Hi. You're welcome, and your English is very good. I know only a few shreds of German. Yes, I saw that line of trees and wrote the sentence as if that was it. I'm content to call it the "Glotter" and leave it to the imagination of the reader, but what is it in German? Re "township": In New Jersey, where I am, a "township" is a relatively large division that gets divided up into "towns" as the area urbanizes, which seems to be what you are saying. Would it be proper to refer to "Denzlingen Township"? --Milkbreath (talk) 12:43, 25 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
Sorry for my late response, there was an interaction between my laptop, gravity and a glass of orange juice that gave me quite a headache. I wanted to distinguish between the land the muncipality actually ownes and the land where houses are built on; maybe the problem is based on different approaches towards political organisation. I'll try to get my sister-in-law on the phone (she's British), that might help me to clarify what I'm talking about. Maybe it's just the thing you are talking about, but I just want to be sure :). References and sources

edit

I can add the town homepage as a source for much of the information here (e.g. the twin towns), but you can't link to the homepage's subsection directly, so everyone checking the source would have to find his or her way through a German homepage. If that's ok with you, I can add more references. --Blutkoete (talk) 12:20, 13 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Solved the problem, the link is not beautiful, but it works. --Blutkoete (talk) 12:24, 13 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
The article has more references than the German original now. I hope we can remove the tag. --Blutkoete (talk) 12:57, 13 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
