I removed the external link to iamjoshbrown.com, as it could be construed to be an official podcast for Derek. It's not, and this guy was spamming most every Weblog that returned a result for Derek Webb on Technorati. Reorganization

edit

I did some serious reworking of the page tonight, although most of the content hasn't changed. I reorganized the article, making the lead into a bit more of an introduction and then adding in Caedmon's info and separating the solo work into it's own area. I also removed the track listing from the discography section and created separate pages for each album. Some of those are lacking at the moment, but it's late and I'm tired. Everything that was here is in those separate pages, I did not delete it. But they could use more work. -- Pepsi2786 09:06, 14 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Good article candidacy

edit

This article is another nice-looking article that is under-referenced. There are only four citations in this article. Firsfron of Ronchester 02:19, 4 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

I've gone through the article and added several new references, along with multiple citations for the sources, and prettifying the reference section. If you could point out further areas that would require citation through the fact tag, I'll look into fixing them as soon as I can find a proper source. Thanks. -- Pepsi2786 10:56, 6 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
Sorry it took me a while to get back to you, Pepsi. The citations are looking really good. I would like a few more added. For example, this sentence: Webb also joined the band early on, though it is notable that he did not even meet all the band members until after they had played their first show together. is an interesting fact, but a citation for it would be good, because then it would be that much stronger. The awards info need citations (just those which don't already have citations). And, strangely, the awards are mentioned in the intro, but nowhere else in the text. That should be fixed.
My final concern is the Fair Use gallery of CD covers at the bottom of the page. If these aren't already on the individual album pages, they should be there. If they're already there, they shouldn't be here, too. Individual images could be used next to the text itself, but a gallery of Fair Use images is prohibited on Wikipedia. Firsfron of Ronchester 17:33, 10 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
I simply could not find a source for the sentence you requested it for. I pulled that from the Caedmon's Call page when filling this out. I've looked for a while, and cannot find it, so I went ahead and removed it. The entire Caedmon's Call section has been tweaked heavily with the addition of the awards information. I redid the discography section entirely to address your concerns. I cut some of the awards information I couldn't find sources for (a mid 90's Billboard Music Video Award Nomination is hard to find), and removed most of it from the lead since it is now later in the article, only going in depth later on. I also merged the now much shorter second paragraph of the lead with the first. This has created a few red links.. I couldn't find the City on a Hill albums which surprises me. I'll find the correct wiki-link, or create the appropriate pages in the next few days. -- Pepsi2786 07:13, 14 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
I believe there are enough references, now. Good work on that. However, the fact he was born in Memphis is mentioned twice in the intro. That's a bit redundant for a section that is supposed to be a brief summary. One should be removed, and there is no reason to wikilink to Memphis twice in sentences so close to one another.
On the bottom, you still have a gallery of Fair Use images. Fair Use images are to be used sparingly: the use of a dozen Fair Use images in the same article is prohibited on Wikipedia, and an article with a gallery of such images cannot become a Good Article. Please read WP:FUC. Otherwise, seems good. Firsfron of Ronchester 16:49, 14 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
I fixed those mistakes you mentioned. Apologies for the gallery thing, I misunderstood somehow. -- Pepsi2786 18:29, 14 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
No need to apologize; I didn't make myself clear. This article now meets the requirements for a Good Article: it is well-sourced and organized, stable, and NPOV. The image gallery was removed, and there is no non-notable trivia cruft. Good job! Firsfron of Ronchester 21:22, 14 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Solo Career section misinterpreting song lyrics?

edit

I don't think the second paragraph of Solo Career is entirely true. The album "She Must and Shall Go Free" was an album of songs about the Church, and the song "Wedding Dress" was no different. I believe the lyric in question was considered controversial not because it suggested that Christians seek fulfillment in promiscuity, but because it painted the church in an unflattering light, typifying it as "whore" rather than as the spotless bride depicted in the Biblical book of Revelation. GA Reassessment

edit
This discussion is transcluded from Talk:Derek Webb/GA1. The edit link for this section can be used to add comments to the reassessment.

I will be doing the GA Reassessment on this article per the GA Sweeps project.

The article is basically good. It would be nice to know more about the circumstances that have led him back to Caedmon's call. Is there more beyond the fact that CC signed with INO records? There are three dead links, 1, 12, and 13. These will need to be repaired. I'll keep the article but please fix these links. H1nkles (talk) 15:14, 4 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Red Mountain Church Music

edit

Is there any reference to his work with Red Mountain Music (formerly Red Mountain Church Music)? I first heard "Wedding Dress" on the Red Mountain album Depth of Mercy. If I remember correctly he worked with Indelible Grace as well, generally with his wife, Sandra McCracken. Can anyone else verify this?75.69.131.170 (talk) 01:52, 13 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

SOLA-MI Section Reads like Ad Copy

edit

The section on SOLA-MI links to nothing else and does not appear to meet the notability guidelines for the site. At a minimum, it does not appear to merit its own separate subsection. Magic1million (talk) 20:30, 18 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Citation issue

edit

The article states that Webb has recanted his Christian faith; however, the source for the citation does not actually provide that information 2001:569:56A0:7100:6927:2D24:4998:1B2E (talk) 01:02, 5 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
