Talk:DesignSpark PCB

Hi!

I'm trying to improve this article by adding independent references. The article has been raised because I see it as valuable for electronics design engineers and certainly more valuable than several articles on other similar software. But if this page contravenes guidelines then I can't see how several others are allowed...such as any that are linked from this page below? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_Free_EDA_software

I'd like helpful suggestions on improvements to be made,

Thanks in advance,

Jim

First of all, the existence of apparently similar articles is not a sufficient justification for any other article. Each subject must stand on its own merits, and another article about a subject that may not appear to be notable could exist solely because it has "slipped between the cracks," so to speak, and hasn't caught the attention of an editor.
As for this article, I see you have removed the proposed deletion notice, which you are within your right to do. I'm inclined not to pursue a formal deletion nomination at this time, because I think it is possible that you may be able to come up with some more references that show how others may see this software as notable, so I'll give you some time to do so. Bear in mind, though, that this software must meet Wikipedia's general notability standards, or else the article may be nominated for deletion at a later time. Let me know if you need help. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 20:47, 17 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

I'm trying to clean this article up. having downloaded and tried the software, it is very good and probably deserving of a short article. The original article was blatant advertising and made many references to the software being Free, even linking to the free_software article. I shall give the original author the benefit of the doubt as the article was written about version 1.02. Version 2.0 (the current version 2011-05-11), is quite clearly NOT free software, although there is no charge made to download it, it requires registration to un-cripple some features, and displays advertising on screen which must be acknowledged before the program will run. The source code is not available and the help | about dialogue states that the program is copyright RS all rights reserved. So definitely not free software. Having said all that I think that the software is notable and will work to produce an encyclopedic entry. Splodgeness (talk) 20:29, 12 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

edit

Someone who knows DesignSpark (and Easy-PC) well, should add them to...
