Article needs work

The article is outdated (most info stops 2008).

The lede is too long and focuses on technical aspects, even repeats the beginnings of the Reichsbahn in 2 different paragraphs.

The lede does not reflect the body - e.g. nothing in the lede is mentioned about the Reichsbahn's role in the Holocaust.

The body says nothing about the DB compensation story to forced laborers, and the ongoing questions re DB's moral responsibility.

Likewise, the body says nothing about the fact that none of the 2 Reichsbahn chiefs (nor any other Reichsbahn representative) was part of the Nuernberger Prozess.

The article contains very many unreferenced statements.

All in all I find the article unbalanced and of poor quality, definitely not encyclopedic level.--Wuerzele (talk) 02:31, 21 October 2014 (UTC)

The German Wiki article is more comprehensive, so I could bring in some translated material and additional bibliographies, but it won't solve the referencing issue.
Whilst the DRG's role in the Holocaust should be covered, we need to be careful not to give it undue weight. The DRG had the biggest railway fleet in Europe for 3 decades, it standardised equipment and vehicles across much of a continent, it introduced important innovations in the industry, was a major factor in Nazi Germany's war effort and had a lasting influence on the European railway system. Yes, it was also used in transporting Jews and other minorities to the death camps in unspeakable conditions and we should mention that as part of its history.
