Review

The article is good, but glosses over some aspects-mainly forced conscription into the list by German officials in order to gain recruits for Wehrmacht into the East. In some cases people were imprisoned, tortured and their close ones threatened if they refused to sign. In other cases it was done without their knowledge.--Molobo 21:46, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

Annexation and General Gouvernement

You say: "When Germany invaded Poland in 1939, it annexed the western part of the country (basically the Gaue of Danzig/West Prussia, the Wartheland, and parts of Upper Silesia as well as East Prussia), and created a new entity, the General Government, for the administration of the rest of its own occupied part of the country." Um, why? I believe the official name was "Deutsche Volksliste" but perhaps I'm wrong. Can you explain your reasoning? --Richard 20:26, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

It is simpler, more often used, as no other Volksliste didn't exist. German Wikipedia article seems to be under "Volksliste" name, too. I am in favour of the move. - Darwinek 08:29, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

OK, I understand that there was only the Deutsche Volksliste and no other. However, if you do a Google "Advanced Search" on "Volksliste" and specify "only German results", you will see that "Deutsche Volksliste" shows up quite often. I would guess that it shows up in more than half (maybe 3/4) of the results. However, since the German Wikipedia uses "Volksliste", I'll move it. --Richard 14:54, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

Nazi vs National Socialist

The recent blanket replacement of Nazi with National Socialist [[1]] is perhaps not helpful? The contraction Nazi is known universally, whereas some readers might not recognized the National Socialist German Workers' Party. Even the Nazi Party article uses the contraction. --catslash (talk) 20:12, 11 June 2012 (UTC) Clearly arguments can be made in favour of using National Socialist or Nazi, but to me the latter seems to be the best option. To judge from the Nazi Party and Nazi Germany pages, this seems also to be the consensus on WP.
