Origin of Euro-IX

edit

I wanna add the information which was removed from article to the talk page for further discussion (if required):

  • What was listed before:

"In May 2001, DE-CIX was one out of a number of Internet Exchange Points who founded Euro-IX, at that time the only organization who started to develop, strengthen and improve the Internet Exchange Point (IXP) community."

  • Of course, information on Euro-IX website cannot be trusted: https://www.euro-ix.net/about-euro-ix/ I'll guess the problem is more that the guys at DE-CIX, Euro-IX and all other IXPs are just to busy to keep the internet running rather than updating the Wikipedia article :)

Thanks for your comments. --huggi - never stop exploring (talk) 04:10, 23 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Deutsche or Deutscher ?

edit

it says Deutscher in the title, but Deutsche in the introduction Vergänglichkeit (talk) 18:37, 2 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Currently, their site refers to it solely as "DE-CIX". However, in the past, they seemed to have used "Deutscher", and that is currently somewhat more popular (~8400 vs. ~3900) in a Google search, though "DE-CIX"/"DECIX" yields over 200,000 hits. Probably a re-brand similar to FedEx.
I suggest we move the article to "DE-CIX" and have re-directs from "DECIX", "Deutsche Commercial Internet Exchange", and "Deutscher Commercial Internet Exchange". As far as whether to use "Deutsche" or "Deutscher" in reference to the "old" name in the text of the article, I've pinged WikiProject Germany. Objections/comments welcome. —[AlanM1(talk)]— 02:59, 29 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
WikiProject Germany Coordinator here. The German Wikipedia article uses "Deutsche," where I think "Deutscher" would be better. Or maybe even "German" since this is the English Wikipedia. –♠Vami_IV†♠ 03:13, 29 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
I support the suggestion to rename the page to "DE-CIX", which is the German WP title. The meaning can be described in the article lead. "Deutsche" is simply the weak declination ("Der Deutsche ... (Internetknoten)" and is wrong when standing alone (already corrected). (It could of course be correct if "Internetknoten" were plural.) Jmar67 (talk) 10:19, 29 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
Apparently, the page was originally at DE-CIX, and was moved in 2015 by Huggi, who is not currently very active. —[AlanM1(talk)]— 03:46, 5 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
